I first built this deck as a cheap deck to take to my local card shop for tournaments. The idea behind it being that your opponents cant kill you if you banish everything they have.
P.Snot so budget anymore but with the reprinting of Grand Abolisher and how awesome Sublime Archangel is I could not resist putting them in when I had the chance to get my greedy paws on them.
Mainboard:
The main board uses control cards such as Banishing Light and
Banisher Priest
to lock down your opponent and gain free reign of the board.
Cards such as
Gideon's Avenger
and Champion of the Parish are meant to be low cost heavy hitters that can develop and advance as the game progresses.Silverblade Paladin & Sublime Archangel are there to give the extra push need for a clean kill or simply gain the upper hand in a delayed game.
Sejiri Steppe is used to give some degree of control over what blocks my creatures and as a disenchant mainly. Although it has many good uses regardless of its limits as a land.
Brave the Elements
does the same thing as Sejiri Steppe in controlling blockers and disenchant with the added bonus of being a sweaper for all my creatures and an instant that can respond to my opponents spells.
Sideboard:
two obvious weaknesses
A. all its banishing is useless against burn decks.
B. Flying
with the sideboard I wanted replacements for some of or all of my banishers as well as a battle plan to outlast aggro decks that I cannot get the upper hand on early game and keep up with later game decks that I cannot undercut as well as address the burn/ flying problems. To this extent I have done a fair job.
Pentarch Paladin
:
is just so powerful in either turning a stalemate in your favour or doing a complete 180 degree turn around.
Spirit Mantle
:
is used to effectively give my creatures unblockable as well as allowing me to block any biggies my opponents get out if I don't have any banishings
Armored Ascension:
is my attempt at helping with the flying problem as well as giving a crap ton of counters to the creature enchanted (this is a mono-white after all ;)
