Slimefoot Aristocrats

Commander / EDH BG (Golgari)

IcyNapalm

Here's a take on Slimefoot that is more effective and consistent at winning the game. I moved away from a fungus tribal because spore counters took too long to generate, even with token doublers and things like Sporoloth Ancient + Winding Constrictor. This build has been continually improving to be faster at getting its combos set up, but for now, it does its job well.

The fastest and easiest way to win is, of course, with Slimefoot + Ashnod's Altar + Parallel Lives. People who know this combo usually try to remove one of these pieces early, so I try to tutor and draw into them as soon as I can. An alternate route is Slimefoot equipped with Illusionist's Bracers and a token doubler, or Pitiless Plunderer + Doubling Season + Slimefoot.

The second win-con is an all-out attack with Beastmaster Ascension in play, provided that enough tokens survive to attack in one go. 7 saprolings attacking become 6/6 creatures very suddenly when the enchantment triggers.

A third way to win is Gruesome Fate, again provided enough creatures are out and your opponents have lost enough life.

Grave Pact and Dictate of Erebos are the main removal methods, followed by Attrition. I found that spot removal is less effective because the target can be protected or brought back. Forcing your opponents to sacrifice their own creatures is useful especially against indestructible and hexproofed/shrouded nuisances. And these enchantments are a good insurance policy against anyone trying to mess with my board.

Death Cloud pairs with Life and Limb, but this is conditional upon having more saprolings than the opponent who has the most lands, otherwise it just becomes a delete button on your game. Poison-Tip Archer, Blood Artist, or any of the other effects that benefit from creatures dying, including Slimefoot himself makes the loop another way to win. Sac outlets are key.

Draw enablers include Smothering Abomination, Fungal Plots, Skullclamp, Phyrexian Arena, and Psychotrope Thallid, with Razaketh, the Foulblooded as a late-game tutor when the last combo pieces just aren't coming up on early draws. Ramping into Razaketh early isn't hard with Cryptolith Rite, Seedborn Muse, Utopia Mycon, or Black Market out.

Leyline of the Void and Necrogenesis exist to trash enemy graveyards as a way to stall those pesky recursion combos. In other words, value. Necrogenesis combos infinitely with Ashnod's Altar as well, emptying all enemy graveyards of threats.

This deck is particularly weak to fliers, so it is crucial to get removal sources like Grave Pact or Attrition up and running in the early stages of the game. Against all other threats, saproling tokens are the lifeblood of the deck. They need to be generated quickly and abundantly to halt creature-based threats. Slimefoot's advantage is having the appearance of being non-threatening for the first few turns to avoid attention from aggro. Once the combo pieces drop, winning is easy. This deck is not strictly a pillow fort, but plays like one through an aristocrats theme. I have this weird obsession with keeping my curve low, so I don't run much stuff that's above 4 cmc unless I feel I have good reason to.
