If you thought Etali, Primal Storm was cool, then Etali, Primal Conqueror   takes things to a completely different level. First time around Etali was difficult to be a commander because in addition to being restricted to mono red, it was an attack trigger that had the potential to net you nothing, assuming it was a land on top of everyone’s library. This time, for only one additional mana, we get a trigger that is a gauranteed hit off of everyone’s library and we get the much needed benefit of having access to green. So Etali hits much harder and much faster.

Most of the deck is purely support for Etali. We want to ramp as fast as we can to get him out as early as possible (there are 29 pieces of ramp) and then try and trigger his ability as much as possible. There are more ways than I thought in gruul colors to copy Etali and his ability. There are 10 ways to straight up make a copy of Etali (Twinflame, Heat Shimmer etc.) and 4 ways to copy his ability. The token copies of Etali will immediately have to be sacrificed but they will still have the etb trigger and that’s all we want anyway.

While getting spells from the top of everyone’s library is the main goal of the deck, we can’t forget Etali is a 7/7 trampler with a 1 shot K\O on the backside. While you won’t do this often it is still nice to have in case of emergency. Xenagos, God of Revels and Zopandrel, Hunger Dominus fit nicely with this option.

Overall this deck is an absolute blast to play and can be super OP with the right starting hand. Etali is quickly becoming one of my favorite commanders and I hope you enjoyed this list. I’m always open so suggestions so leave a comment down below. Thanks!
