Introduction

This deck is all about playing big hydras with trample. Unlike other red/green commander decks this one doesn't run out of fuel after board wipes, because I have a lot of draw spells in this deck. It's common for me to draw 20+ cards in one turn, and then drop a Reliquary Tower. Wins often come out of nowhere due to instant speed tutoring with Chord of Calling, haste enablers, trample enablers, Tooth and Nail, and Green Sun's Zenith.

Why is Rosheen Meanderer your commander?

  1. Rosheen makes hydras and burn spells more potent.

  2. Rosheen gives you options. You can either dump all your mana from lands and Rosheen into a hydra, or you can make a slightly smaller hydra, and play an additional spell on the same turn.

  3. Rosheen gives you access to very aggressive colors.

  4. Rosheen isn't well known. Most people who have played against this deck for the first time have never seen a Rosheen deck. Therefore, threat assessments are hard to make.

Early Game

Turns 1-3 should be spent ramping and/or playing utility cards like Swiftfoot Boots or Fires of Yavimaya.

Mid Game

Turns 4-5 should be spent playing Rosheen Meanderer, and then dropping a big fat hydra.

Late Game

Smash face with your hydras! Burn people to death. The carnage is real.

Win Conditions

Kalonian Hydra: This left unchecked is enough to win the game and then some.

Primordial Hydra: Ditto

Avenger of Zendikar or Verdeloth the Ancient or Hooded Hydra or Gelatinous Genesis + Craterhoof Behemoth: Do you have a calculator for all that damage?

Vernal Bloom + Comet Storm: To take the table out, granted this requires a lot of mana.

Apocalypse Hydra or Savageborn Hydra with trample + Xenagos, God of Revels: This is going to hurt a lot.

Chandra's Ignition + a fat hydra: This is how you take out the whole table at once.

Weaknesses

Counterspells, of course. Exile effects also hurt a lot since I'm running Vastwood Hydra, Lifeblood Hydra , and Hooded Hydra.

Closing Thoughts

If you like crushing your opponents into a fine paste, then you'll enjoy playing this deck.
