My #1 reason to play this deck is it runs a lot of sweet control cards: Cryptic Command, Remand, Electrolyze,Izzet Charm, Repeal. It also has a lot of value and 2-for-1s like Cryptic Command Sakura-Tribe Elder Electrolyze. It also happens to be very good against twin, and moderately good against affinity and junk/jund. If you don't know how scapeshift works, basically, you just get 7 lands and Scapeshift taking 6 mountains and a Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle since they come into play simultaneously, it deals 18 damage. With 8 lands and Scapeshift you get another Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle to deal 36 You might think that this deck is too slow to do anything in modern, and it is, if you think about it as a combo deck. But in reality, it's more of a control deck with a one-card wincon, and if you think of it that way, it's not slow at all
