Originally, Steve Rubin inspired this deck, though I have changed it from his original list. Here's his deck tech he did, in case you want an older version of the typical burn deck: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=if2wURw9MVY
The biggest change I made was eliminating
Firebrand Archer
, replacing it with
Ghitu Lavarunner
, and now I have replaced that with
Seal of Fire
. I think going nearly creatureless is pretty effective in the format because most decks are creature heavy, meaning opponents usually have a fair amount of removal that ends up being dead in their hands.
Seal of Fire
has proven to be very effective. It just sits there on the battlefield staring at opponents. If they try to destroy it, sacrifice and hit a creature or the opponent for 2 damage. It keeps them from playing certain creatures, and it sits there waiting for them to try to pull a trick with a creature so you can respond by sacrificing. It has been highly effective and a fantastic addition to the deck.

Fun deck to play. What I have learned is that it's best to ignore creatures until they cannot be ignored. The exception, of course, is
Searing Blaze
which gets both a creature and the opponent.
Not a lot of strategy as it is a linear deck idea. My one suggestion might be against blue-based decks: have patience once they get counter spells up and running. Get a nice full hand of burn spells and then start unleashing them all at once. Their counter spells generally cost more than the burn spells, so the pace is in the burn deck's favor when you have a full hand. This isn't advice that hits every time, but it works well enough to get a decent chance at beating the blue decks...
Overall, it's fast, fun, and very competitive!
