Who am I?

Hi, i'm an edh player, i don't play competitive, i just wanna have fun with my friends and try to win. I love building decks and i'm always trying to find better and funnier solution to improve my decks. Usually i'm starting with a budget deck and after some games, if is it worth, i replace some budget cards with stronger ones.

Why Hapatra?

This deck was born from the ashes of my mono black Bontu, Mrs Crocodile Dundee. Disassemble that deck was a tough decision and I was thinking about keeping it as a mono black with a different commander, Syr Konrad, the Grim or Tergrid, God of Fright   maybe, but I decided to add {G} and get away from aristocrat theme since I already have Marchesa, Be Right Back, creating my first golgari deck .
Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons is an interesting commander with an uncommon theme (-1/-1 counters), that's why I chose her instead of a classic golgari reanimator or sacrifice deck. Her second ability allow me to generate a really wide board full of snakes (with deathtouch :D) while I control the board with the -1/-1 counters.

Game plan/Card Selection

This is a -1/-1 themed deck, so you should try to spread -1/-1 counters everywhere while generating snakes thanks to Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons.
You can usually play Hapatra by turn 2 and start getting rid of small creature like mana dorks on turn 3. Focus one opponent could be a good option if you wanna get some free hapatra's first ability triggers. Besides controlling the board, you should generate a lot of tokens, winning with a finisher like Finale of Devastation or finding a combo in the deck.
Hapatra herself can make the deck works, but sometimes its hard to deal damage with her even with 3 opponents so here is the first categories of the deck:

-1/-1 Generator

Cards like Black Sun's Zenith, Blowfly Infestation, Carnifex Demon, Soul Snuffers, Yawgmoth, Thran Physician and all proliferate effect can generate a HUGE amount of -1/-1 counter.
Other cards like Ammit Eternal or Obelisk Spider have less power but they can help a lot and performe very well in some situation.

Ramp

Classic 1/2 cmc mana rocks and green ramp followed by:

Crop Rotation, Sylvan Scrying and Hour of Promise used to get Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth + Cabal Coffers out.

Channeler Initiate and Devoted Druid, -1/-1 themed mana dorks.

Growing Rites of Itlimoc  ,Druids' Repository and Harvest Season really good in a token deck.

Black Market and Culling Ritual could generate a lot of mana in this deck.

Draw

Generous Patron is a must have in this deck, really synergic.

Ohran Frostfang, Seshiro the Anointed and Toski, Bearer of Secrets are all really powerful and work well with our snake tokens.

Plumb the Forbidden, Skullclamp and Shamanic Revelation also synergize very well with our tokens

Yawgmoth, Thran Physician synergize very well with everthing in this deck.

Tutor/Recursion

There are some tutor and recursion cards in this deck since is a combo deck and mainly for this guy: Yawgmoth, Thran Physician. He is so damn broken.

Removal

Some fun way to remove creature here, fighting (Smell Fear, Ulvenwald Tracker) and pinging (Viridian Longbow) with our snakes.
We can also add all the -1/-1 Generator cards in this categeries and a special mention go to Wickerbough Elder really nice and synergic.

Mulligan

Obviously having some ramp in you opening hand is always good and even if you can probably start spreadding -1/-1 counter with Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons in the early game, is important to have a plan B with atleast one -1/-1 counter generator. It's quite hard to find a really bad opening hand with this deck, there isn't something you MUST have.

Wincon

First WinCon: Combat Damage.

There will be a lot of snakes on the board and I run different cards to pomp them out. Seshiro the Anointed gives them +2/+2, Sylvan Anthem +1/+1 and Finale of Devastation +X/+X.
If our snakes aren't big enough we can play Fynn, the Fangbearer (better if played with Chord of Calling during combat) and kill the other players with poison counters. We need to strike with 5 snakes per player in order to kill them.

2 other Finishers are Gruesome Fate or a really large Exsanguinate.

And here is the longest part: COMBO (including some good not infinite interaction)

Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons + Yawgmoth, Thran Physician it's a Plague Wind + draw cards equal to the total toughness of creature you are killing.
