Mostly, the idea here is to get out something that will give you tokens. That could be Emeria Angel + Ruin Ghost, Therab Doomsayer, or Gather the Townsfolk. Mostly you just build up a supply. Growing ranks will just keep getting you tokens, Therab will keep getting tokens, and ruin ghost will keep getting you tokens. Meanwhile you get out cards like intangible virtues and and honor of the pure to just make them better. The finishing blow really comes in with Odric and/ or Cathar's Crusade. The idea is not to get out a ton of tokens or get them out particularly fast, but to make a decent amount (usually around 10) but all very good(usually at least 3/3). The Serra Avengers are mostly there to be quick flyers. Good to block flying while you make tokens, also good because it is more independent. Doesn't rely on all the other creatures in your deck.
