This is a grixis reanimator deck that uses
Ever After
to reanimate a combination of creatures to defeat the opponent in an explosive way. The early game is spent casting Tormenting Voice and
Oath of Jace
to dig for an
Ever After
and discarding your dragons or Sidisi, Undead Vizier.
Pieces of the Puzzle
is another way to dig for
Ever After
, though it cannot help you hit land drops. Another card you are actively searching for is Languish as you will often need a turn 4 Languish to survive against aggressive decks. It is fairly common to find a copy given the amount of digging the deck runs. When you get to turn 6, you have hopefully hit all your land drops (helped by the drawing of Tormented Voice and
Oath of Jace
you should be able to do this. Alternately you can land a
Corrupted Grafstone
and reanimate on turn 5). By turn 6 you should also have found an
Ever After
so you can cast it for the reanimator finish.
There are 2 creature combinations that should be used in this deck for reanimation (if you have them in your graveyard):
1: Dragonlord Kolaghan and Dragonlord Silumgar. Basically you take their biggest creature and because of Kolaghan all 3 of the creatures will have haste. You can then proceed to swing for a ton of damage. This is sometimes risky if you are playing against a removal heavy deck, as if they kill Silumgar they get back their creature. Alternately you can take a planeswalker and try to use it for your benefit.
2: Dragonlord Silumgar and Sidisi, Undead Vizier. This is one of the coolest comboes in the deck. When you cast
Ever After
you have Silumgar's ETB effect go on the stack first, taking their biggest creature. You then have Sidisi's ETB go on the stack and use his exploit ability to sacrifice the big creature you just took. The deck search can be used to find another copy of
Ever After
or to get a Kolaghan. This combo can be looped multiple times if you have multiple
Ever After
s in your deck, as it always returns to the bottom of your library. As long as you have both copies of Sidisi in your graveyard and at least 2 copies of Silumgar. This is often the best way to beat control decks as sometimes they will be able to kill your Silumgar and get back their creature. This ensures that the creature is dead and your opponent is not getting it back.
Note: The combination of Dragonlord Kolaghan and Sidisi, Undead Vizier is less powerful than either of the aforementioned options, but it is still usually wise to reanimate them if they are your only option. Reanimating a combined 10 power and 11 toughness with haste is still very strong, and Kolaghan can often win games by himself (especially if you used Languish to clear many of their creatures. His ability becomes very fearsome at that point.)
