This deck is meant to be a disruption/removal heavy deck... It falls somewhere in between aggro and control, but is faster than the typical midrange deck. As such the main goals of this deck are:
1) Keep the opponent's heavy hitters out of play
2) Have reliable answers for noncreature threats
3) Bring enough damage to finish the game
Key Cards in Each Category
Removal:
Anguished Unmaking - As far as I can tell it is the best targeted removal in standard! Maybe I missed something else out there that is equally good, but a 3 cost card that exiles any non-land permanent? The only reason I don't have 4 is because is because I have Thought-Knot Seer as a preemptive answer to planeswalkers.
Noxious Gearhulk - 5/4 creature plus removal equals efficiency... biggest issue would be having it get countered, but this isn't the only removal or beat stick in the deck.
Damage:
Scrapheap Scrounger - It is a 2 cost 3/2 and that alone would make me consider getting it. Throw in the fact I can drop it with any of combo of my mana and I can return it directly to the battlefield for 2 mana... really what else could I want?
Eternal Scourge - A 3 cost 3/3 is not bad... Plus it is easy to cast since it is colorless and it combos with Scrapheap Scrounger
Disruption:
Authority of the Consuls - This is really the only key to the entire deck... You want this card played in the first round if at all possible! Playing against somebody that has hasted creatures? Sucks for them because they enter tapped and can't attack until next round.
Kambal, Consul of Allocation - This is the other half of it. While it might not slow them down like Authority of the Consuls he will definitely make it hurt every time your opponent removes a creature or counters a spell.
Utility:
Smuggler's Copter - This is probably one of (if not the) best card in standard right now in my opinion. Yes it has to be crewed, but I can crew it with a Fairgrounds Warden while he snuggles with one of my opponent's creatures... Plus 3 damage and card draw for 2 mana.
Warping Wail - In my opinion, this is an amazing card. It counters Fumigate (the best board wipe currently), can exile a significant number of creatures and vehicles, and it can be used to cast Bearer of Silence (with activated ability) and Thought-Knot Seer on turn 3.
Discard:
Thought-Knot Seer - My only dedicated 'discard' in the deck. I included this because I wanted a way to stop big threats before they hit the field, but I didn't want to reduce the number of creatures I had. This is the perfect card for what I was looking for... I can combo it with Warping Wail to cast it on turn 3 to keep my opponent from playing Liliana, the Last Hope and drop a 4/4 at the same time.
Sideboard:
Lost Legacy / Ruinous Path : Answer to planeswalker heavy decks
Fragmentize: Extra early game removal against aggro vehicle decks
Blessed Alliance: Extra utility/ nontargeted removal
All help is appreciated! Please test this deck against your decks and feel free to make suggestions on main and sideboard. Thanks in advance!
