This deck is designed to be versatile and fun to play against many matchups. It is based around creatures with abilities that trigger when they enter the battlefield and/or die. The general strategy is mana ramp for the first 2-4 turns, then abuse ETB abilities to exploit the opponent's weaknesses and declare victory with Craterhoof Behemoth. When mana ramping, the 3 swamps and island are always what you look for, and Utopia Sprawl is almost always black.

Birthing Pod is the most important of all cards in this deck. It lets you adapt to changing situations by fetching the creature with the specific ETB ability you need. A common good play is sacrificing Kitchen Finks to fetch a Phyrexian Metamorph which comes into play as a copy of the pod. Finks comes back due to persist and the metamorph (now pod) can sacrifice it for another 4-mana creature such as Skinrender. Now you have a 4-mana creature and 2 Birthing Pods. This hopefully leads to the win condition, which is sacrificing Hornet Queen to get Craterhoof Behemoth and swinging for 34+ damage.

The creatures in this deck were chosen not only for their abilities, but also for their role in maximizing Birthing Pod. There are creatures ranging from 2-8 cmc with no gaps, so there are always options as long as I have one creature and Birthing Pod. Usually this deck starts on defense, reacting to the opponents largest threats until their momentum slows down enough for me to press the advantage. I generally try to fetch creatures that counteract the largest threat put out by the opponent, and often I bleed life in the first few turns. If they are playing a more passive deck however, this deck is still capable of turning up the heat with powerful attackers like Vorapede and Wurmcoil Engine.

The many interactions between support cards and ETB creatures allow for most hands to result in fun gameplay. This deck is a constant work in progress however so all suggestions that increase the speed and versatility of the deck are welcome.
