Death and sTaxes

Commander / EDH*

excasteal

Maybeboard

There are only two guarantees in life... Death and Taxes. This deck, commanded by the shrewd tax collector himself, Kambal, Consul of Allocation, attempts to punish your opponents for playing... Magic the Gathering. Seriously, anything they play should come at a price. Whether it simply costs more to play, or it hurts to do so, nothing our opponents do should be free of charge, and we should always be collecting payment. Kambal is the perfect commander for this deck because he punishes our opponents for trying to play noncreature spells by making them pay 2 life each time - a toll we also simultaneously collect in life gain. Not only is Kambal perfectly on flavor in every way, but he is very efficient at 3 mana for a 2/3 with that effect. Other card choices aim to do similar things, or to make it difficult for our opponents to interact with us. At least, at a reasonable cost. The deck also packs a stax package to be extra grindy, hence the "sTaxes" name.

The deck is currently in a budget state, with the more expensive cards on the list being things I already own. The maybeboard is a mix of things Im thinking of including and things I 100% would include if I had them. Currently there is no real "win condition" in the deck, but the Exquisite Blood + Sanguine Bond combo can easily slot in to serve as one if needed, as well as plenty of others. For now we just want to win by grinding out our opponents (Static Orb, anyone?) or by them killing themselves via taxes.
