TL;DR: Flicker, with soulbond and come into play effects. Initially inspired by the Venser vs Koth duel decks.
This deck doesn't run a lot of multiples of cards - because of this, it probably loses some strength and consistency. But, while it does lack playsets, I've worked to balance types of cards. The way I see it, this deck has groups of cards (aside from lands):1) Control (detention sphere, oblivion ring, journey to nowhere, dungeon geists)2) Tricks n flicks (cloudshift, restoration angel, joint assault, Venser) (5 flicker cards total)3) creatures with come into play effects (blade splicer, thragtusk, clone, armada wurm, sunblast angel, dungeon geists, restoration angel)4) soulbonders (wolfir silverheart, tandem lookout, nightshade peddler, silverblade paladin, wingcrafter)
Initially, this deck was heavily based on flicker. Soulbound creatures could benefit a lot from flickering as a combat trick, as reassigning a creature's passive abilities or untapping them during combat could be very useful. Non soulbond creatures all have come into play effects,* which has a lot to gain from flicker as well. After playtesting, it became clear that the deck wouldn't survive to deliver its finishing plays with only the flicker mechanic to protect it. With the addition of category 1, the deck routinely gets to deliver its lategame.
So, after balancing the 4 groups of cards into what I felt were appropriate ratios (and please let me know if you think otherwise!), I simply curved** each pile and brought them together with certain land ratios, while aiming to create a deck worth about $110 (as of July 2015). So, it doesn't play with the kind of smooth consistency that you'd see where there are playsets of everything. But it does have a smooth feel due to the curve and ratios of the types of cards involved.
*Invisible stalker, abundant growth, and sylvan caryatid weren't addressed in that analysis. I sideboard in invisible stalkers because they synergize with most of the soulbond creatures, taking the place of wingcrafter against decks that have heavy burn. Growth and sylvan car are mana fixers, you could just lump these in with lands.
**For some reason, 4 drops don;t seem to be very present for this strategy. I suppose I could cut other types of control and run more dungeon geists.
Edits: invisible stalker -> dungeon geists
thinking about swapping out wall of denial for an angelic destiny ... am i running a hallowed fountain?
Take out early game creatures, make it more control heavy, and add some late game bombs and more EtB
