A revision of my Doran, Toughness Matters deck I posted last year, March of the Ents is a deck that focuses heavily on the concept of high toughness creatures adding also a more prominent treefolk theme. I've been rereading The Two Towers by Tolkien and couldn't help but become excited at the appearance of the Ents in the story.

Recently I've come into possession of more Treefolk creatures that provide more synergies and utility. I've removed Anafenza, the Foremost , Scaretiller , and some minor mana accelerates. I found with the original deck I would be overwhelmed quickly with mana I wasn't able to use because there weren't enough high-cost cards to warrant it. I've added Ezzaroot Channeler , Tree of Redemption , Heartwood Storyteller , Dungrove Elder , Yedora, Grave Gardener , Unbound Flourishing , Sylvan Offering (this seemed like a useful diplomatic tool for large pods), and Huatli, the Sun's Heart .

Assault Formation + Tree of Redemption can act as a win-condition, swapping the Tree's toughness with the controller's life-total and swinging for incredible damage. Another synergy I've found to be fun has been Soul Foundry + Unbound Flourishing Ezzaroot Channeler + Nyx-Fleece Ram with Sylvan Offering . Flourishing doubles the generations of Ram which is a cheap life-generator that can feed into Channeler which, in turn, cuts down the cost of Offering. Offering generates a massive force for you and one other player and is a useful bartering chip that could potentially leave you the advantage by leaving players indebted to you.

The mana base has been fairly efficient, particularly if Yedora, Grave Gardener can get out before any board-wipes. Throw down a Dungrove Elder and you'll have a very large threat on the board, especially if you play with basic forests or dual-lands.

Doran, the Siege Tower is this deck's commander. He is a low-cost threat that changes the fundamental rules of combat for everyone, not just his controller. Against most creatures, the ability can be crippling.

Lastly, before playing this deck, please re-watch or re-read The Two Towers when Treebeard and the ents attack Isengard. That'll give you an idea as to why I was so drawn to the deck's concept.
