As soon as I saw Assault Formation, I knew I had to build a deck around it. Before, in order to achieve similar results, you needed a Wakestone Gargoyle and the highly sought-after and otherwise expensive Doran, the Siege Tower. While the two make for a positive team, the latter best works in a treefolk deck with Indomitable Ancients , without utilizing Defender-type creatures. This deck is designed exclusively for making the best offense a good defense. Obviously, without the enchantment on the field, this deck can appear to be hopeless, but this deck is the pinnacle of stall tactics at its worst and has offensive capabilities even without Assault Formation in both Colossus of Akros and Vent Sentinel. While suggestions are more than welcome, this deck has been thoroughly tested and works very well, although I may swap out something for one more Colossus.

Combos to note (besides the obvious) include using various defense boosting capabilities with Hornet Nest, piling enchantments and equips on Tree of Redemption and ramping its toughness and my health, swinging with Tree of Redemption on T5 with Vigilance, only to tap him before damage to boost him up to 20+ toughness, Hold the Gates and my shit-ton of gates, and using Overgrown Battlement to boost my Colossus of Akros out early. Assault Formation + Hold the Gates + Hornet Nest makes for T5-6 wins, which is fairly fast-paced for this deck. I know that sounds less than stellar, but I often outlast those T3/4 winners using heavy blockers and lifegain.

So I've been running this deck through my casual circles, using proxies for the Assault Formation, as mine haven't shipped from my preorder, yet. So far, so good. The land base works surprisingly well, and I've been mana screwed maybe once. What I'm looking to do now is sculpt my sideboard. One issue I've run into is, interestingly enough, my wife. She runs a UB mill deck that has been consistently mopping the floor with me. That being said, I'm sure the budget discrepancy is largely to blame (I've gifted her with things like Glimpse the Unthinkable because love and stuff), but I need something to deal with that. I'm thinking maybe 3 Elixir of Immortality into my sideboard for that, a couple Sprouting Phytohydra, 3 Sheltering Word, and maybe 1 or 2 Fruit of the First Tree, as well as Naturalize and possible Path to Exile. Any thoughts?
