Goblin Sharpshooter

The goal of Goblin Sharpshooter is threefold...

  1. To build the Goblin Sharpshooter + Horobi, Death's Wail combo. (Open "The Sniper Combo" below.)

  2. To play LOTS of goblins and buff them up for attackers/blockers. (Open "The Goblin Army" below.)

  3. To finish off your opponent (if you haven't already) with some sweet burn spells. (Open "The Finisher Spells" below.)

One of the main goals of this deck is getting the "Sniper Combo" on the board. This should be your number one priority going into a game against MOST decks. It allows for almost complete control over the creatures in the battlefield, with the added bonus of a 4/4 Flyer. The combo consists of two cards.

This combo works by using Goblin Sharpshooter's third ability to tap to deal one damage to a target creature. This then triggers Horobi, Death's Wail's ability, which destroys that targeted creature. And when that creature is destroyed, it triggers Goblin Sharpshooter's second ability that untaps him. This allows you to repeat this process until you clear your opponents board of creatures. (This ability can also be played on your opponent's turn, allowing for instantaneous removal of all your opponents creatures.)

There are two playsets of each card in this deck to maximize the chances of you drawing them. There is also a playset of Goblin Matron, which allows you to tutor for your Goblin Sharpshooter AND has great synergy for the second half of this deck, "The Goblin Army."

There are a few different sets of goblin cards in this deck. They aim to create a ton of creatures quickly (Which helps the third part of the deck, "The Finisher Spells.") and buff them up; while simultaneously protecting you from incoming damage.

The Creatures:

  • Krenko, Mob Boss - This guy will become your best friend; he effectively doubles the number of goblins you have every turn. Get him down quickly, and watch your army grow.

  • Mogg Sentry - He makes for a great "one drop" that can easily defend against incoming creatures or prevent an attack until you are ready; at the same time adding to your creature count (important for "The Finisher Spells" and Krenko, Mob Boss's ability)

  • Goblin Matron - She is your tutor. She can tutor for any goblin card, (including your Goblin Sharpshooter and Krenko, Mob Boss) AND adds to your creature count. (which again is important for "The Finisher Spells" and Krenko, Mob Boss's ability)

Other Spells:

This section comes into play if you haven't already defeated your defenseless (thanks to the Sniper Combo) opponent or are stopped by Hexproof or Indestructible creatures and need some damage straight to their face. Hopefully you have amassed a large Goblin army at this point, because that will help immensely.

  • Goblin War Strike - Just a quick and clean way to do some quick damage to your opponent while keeping them all untapped and ready to go for some combat/blocking.

  • Burn at the Stake - The most fantastic way to one-shot your enemy. Damage equal to three times the amount of creatures you have? Uh.. YES!
