A mono-black drain deck that focuses on taking the opponents life and adding i to their own with the help of some deathtouch and value black creatures.
This deck has done rather well and can often function with one lander hands. Things that will give this deck problems is control, as they're able to keep your guys off the board, stopping your momentum and keeping your from draining their life.
Additionally cards that deal widespread damage, can ping creatures easily or exile away creatures does really well against this.
Drain:
Alms of the Vein - The main card in the deck, a simple burn 3 and gain 3. The only way to discard this for Madness is through Midnight Oil which means you'll be hard casting this the majority of the time. It doesn't seem to be much a problem as most of the deck is rather low cost wise.
Gonti's Machinations - A great way to drain for 3 at instant speed to finish off an opponent. Can even be a good late game top deck when already stocked on Energy since you can play it and then sac it right away.
Night Market Lookout - Great one drop, free drain for 1 when tapping it can really add up if the opponent has a slow start, not great late game sadly.
Trespasser's Curse + Bontu's Monument - A nice passive way to drain, especially when getting both of them out allowing for any creature to drain for 1 in your favour. Trespasser's Curse is great against large token decks in check so that they don't get out of control (which is why there are 2 more in the side board). Sadly in this deck, the lower cost to cast creatures isn't the focal point of Bontu's Monument
Zulaport Cutthroat - The back up plan to finish with drain, especially with a big board and low life, have often ended matched using this and Yahenni to sac my own creatures and cause multiple pings.
Deathtouch/Removal:
Aether Poisoner - Has deathtouch to help block threats while also giving Energy that helps with either activating Gonti's Machinations or making Servo Tokens that can be sac'd for either Yahenni or Zulaport Cutthroat.
Gifted Aetherborn - This is an amazing creature, decent toughness, lifelink and deathtouch and only a 2 cost.
Grasp of Darkness - Low cost -4/-4, feels like a nice safe removal spell. Is the only true removal in the main board however, much more is present in the side board depending on what the match-up is.
Draw:
Live Fast - Our fastest draw spell. We're gaining plenty of life so the 2 damage isn't much and with Machinations out you'll gain an extra energy. Speaking of which, playing this card gives you the energy need to sac a Gonti's Machinations which is another plus for it. It also gives you 2 cards!
Midnight Oil - This deck wants to play out your whole hand and aggro down / drain away the opponent. This card allows for you to keep going and not run out of gas. We have plenty of life and will only ever have to discard if 2 swamps are drawn. This also is our only way to madness Alms of the Vein.
Value:
Yahenni, Undying Partisan - Haste, gets counters when enemy creatures die, can be made indestructible too! Such a great card that really makes the opponent think when deciding how to block / deal with him. Also works really well with Zulaport Cutthroat.
Abundant Maw - An Alms of the Vein attached to a 6/4 that if you emerge with a Zulaport on the field will actually drain for 4! 5 if there is a Buntu's Monument.
