This is a tuned up modern stompy list that is playing into decks such as Ponza, Amulet Titan, Esper control, and Jeskai Control. Overall the local meta is loaded with either removal and counter magic, or very quick and concise plays.
In terms of ideal turns, a mana accelerant such as Elvish Mystic or Llanowar Elves is preferred on turn one, followed by a turn 2 beater such as Rhonas the Indomitable or Steel Leaf Champion. At that point you are threatening lethal at turn four due to large amounts of mana and damage already available. In the perfect world, Castle Garenbrig is also out and able to be activated in order to use Rhonas' Ability twice but the sheer board presence should be plenty.
RAMP
In terms of ramp, there is a small collection of 8 elves alongside your lands to make all the mana you need. There are arguments for cards like Utopia Sprawl and Karametra's Acoloyte but I feel in my local meta they are either easy to interact with prior to hitting the board, or are too slow for making the big splash you want to make. Having these mana dorks at your disposal would not only need them to use up removal to try and slow you down, but also interact quite nicely for a very fast Ghalta, Primal Hunger or juiced up Aspect of Hydra.
In the world of interaction we do pack a handful of answers in the main and more in the sideboard. For Graveyard interaction there is the mainboard Scavenging Ooze that you can dump your mana into. It can eat at dredge graveyards, and it can eat Snapcaster Mage targets. For removal, we pack some Blossoming Defense in the main. Rhonas the Indomitable Also is good for dealing with blockers, but that is more due to the nature of trample.
MATCHUPS
Looking at the local matchups I have, I would say this deck struggles the most in control matches. It has performed very well in recent times, but the deck is prone to getting blown out by Damn or Wrath of God effects. It is hardest to combat removal heavy matches, so in the current list I am experimenting with the 1-3 drops by adding harder to remove creatures like Troll Ascetic and Predator Ooze because they ask for very specific answers and won't go away otherwise.
Other aggro matches it can normally compete very well with your beefy creatures and sticky low drops, it can brawl very well.
Amulet Titan is another hard matchup that I haven't quite figured out how to deal with yet. The answers are present but knowing when to use them has been tricky for me to crack down on. Aside from of course using Force of Vigor to destroy Amulet of Vigor, that is very easy to see.
SIDEBOARD
When sideboarding, your swaps can usually be determined by the match. I know obvious but let me explain:
In the control match up, cards like Goreclaw, Terror of Qal Sisma and potentially even Predator Ooze might be good options. This is mainly due to the fact that they need to be present on the board for a moment or two before being a threat. Predator Ooze is up in the air because of how it is indestructible. For what to swap in, if graveyard interaction is frequent for things like Snapcaster Mage then Endurance is a reliably good one. It has a good stat line, has flash, and can be evoked in desperate times. If there isn't tons of yard interaction, maybe take out Scavenging Ooze and swap in Shifting Ceratops. Again, nice stat line, can't be countered, and can be whatever you need. Blocker? Give it reach. Attacker? Trample. And it has protection from blue so it can't be stopped by Teferi, Time Raveler. Questing Beast is pretty solid when the opponent is playing walkers like Teferi, Time Raveler due to the haste, chump dodges, and the fact that you can hit face and at the same time deck their planeswalker. Heroic Intervention applies as well for wipes, stalling the wipe with essentially a green counterspell and making it so they can't interact for the rest of that turn is huge.
In any sort of aggro match ups, Engineered Explosives has found me a good amount of success.it is a nice sweeper for low mana creatures or general tokens that has reliably had good sweeps. other permanents that are on board get answered as well making it really flexible, but it can only go up to one so keep that in mind.
Sorcerous Spyglass is a sideboard card that you have to determine based on matchups and metas. It can be swapped for many different cards, but in my meta is has very good potential since I can name cards like Urza's Saga and Teferi, Time Raveler. I'd say it is most likely the flexible spot of the sideboard. The same can most likely be said about Shifting Ceratops but that depends on what is going on.
That is my stompy list currently, and my current thoughts. There are tons of green creatures at your disposal that can flex in and out based on metas and new decks arising, but for now this is where I am, and I am always testing and experimenting with new creatures and answers. If you have any thoughts or interesting creatures that might have a home here please leave a comment and let me know! I want to have this deck be flexible and last for as long as possible.
