My take on a combo deck for standard. I know, I know, there are a few 2/2's in there but they're 1/1's at heart.
So the battle plan is to ramp up quickly into either Wild Beastmaster or Champion of Lambholt, make tokens, and swing for the money. All the cards synergize amazingly well together and often times turn the tide of the game with just one gigantic swing. And if you can get fateful hour to trigger, there is huge potential to swing for game ending damage even if you haven't done anything to their life total prior.
Example of an ideal draw
T1: Land, Arbor Elf or Avacyn's Pilgrim
T2: Land, Champion of Lambholt
T3: Land, Goldnight Commander
T4: Land, Increasing Devotion Swing for 19 that can't be blocked except by a 12/x.
Leaves you one shy of winning. I think there's a better draw but that one involves drawing two or more rancors and stuff like that. Winning swings usually come around T5 or T6, although I know that's dangerous because that's in Supreme Verdict territory. But then again you're almost always in Bonfire of the Damned territory so nothing you don't already need to fear.
Downsides include not having any opponent interaction and vulnerability to board wipes (including 2 CMC
Golgari Charm
and Electrickery. The deck construction is extremely single-minded in its approach and really only has that one win condition. I would also say that this is as close to an actual "combo" deck that I can come up with in the current standard.
To top it all off, if you take out the Shocklands, the deck is fairly budget friendly.
Suggestions, criticisms, and +1's always appreciated. If I can get all the cards together by game day, I'll probably play this and let you guys know how it goes. Thanks in advance!
