My take on Tajic, Blade of the Legion EDH: Soldier tribal with a sharp edge of Voltron.

Knowing full well that Boros is not an optimal color combination for EDH, I wanted to try and create a workable decklist which is fun to play with and to play against, but also has a chance to win in a semi-competitive environment.

The deck is designed to have multiple wincons, the first and foremost being a Voltron equipped Tajic, Blade of the Legion . An indestructible 7/7 is nothing to sniff at, and can take out an opponent in two turns when buffed enough. Another upside is the ability to make use of boardwipes without actually destroying your own buffed up commander. Where Tajic, Blade of the Legion is the tip of the sword, the rest of the creatures are all selected to either help Tajic get his Batallion trigger (either by token generation or Batallion of their own) and to help in establishing the board presence of this deck.

Some notes regarding card choices:

Voltron package for Tajic: The most important pieces are the Mirrodin swords: Sword of Feast and Famine , Sword of Fire and Ice , Sword of Light and Shadow and Sword of War and Peace . They provide protection, evasion and relevant triggers.

Ideally we want to have double strike to maximize our use of the swords: Duelist's Heritage , Fireshrieker , Silverblade Paladin , Sunhome, Fortress of the Legion and Aurelia, the Warleader as pseudo-double strike.

Other equipment is mostly just some of the most effective equipments for Tajic in particular: Pariah's Shield , Inquisitor's Flail , Loxodon Warhammer , Sword of Vengeance , Mask of Avacyn , Swiftfoot Boots and Sunforger with a modest Sunforger package.

Soldier token generators: Martial Coup , Assemble the Legion , Mobilization , Elspeth, Sun's Champion , Captain of the Watch , Hero of Bladehold .

Ramp: Smothering Tithe , Knight of the White Orchid , Burnished Hart , Solemn Simulacrum , Boros Keyrune , Boros Signet , Commander's Sphere , Darksteel Ingot , Sol Ring , Thran Dynamo and Sword of the Animist .

Draw: Mentor of the Meek , Puresteel Paladin , Sram, Senior Edificer , Mind's Eye , Skullclamp .

Equipment tutors: Steelshaper's Gift , Open the Armory and Stonehewer Giant .
