mono blue SHENANIGANS, featuring JVP and, of course, high tide, the best ritual spell in the game

the goal of this deck is to use our blueness to stop our opponents with fast decks from going off before us and use our explosive storminess to stop slow decks from grinding us out. while we generally win on long, intricate and explosive "combo turns" on turns 4-6, we can also win before that with dramatic/scepter if we get a lucky draw, but generally this is a turn 4 or 5 deck.

how do I win?

step 0: get high tide, some sort of land untapping spell ( Snap , Turnabout , etc.) and a mana sink into your hand. have jace on board with enough cards in the yard to flip him. I know this sounds like a lot, but with our tutor and draw packages and card redundancies it's actually fairly consistently doable by turn 3-4.

step 1: double cast high tide on turn by flipping JVP, casting high tide, and then downticking jace to recast high tide.

step 2: tap your lands and use a frantic search effect to generate more mana.

step 3: using our draw and tutor suite, assemble any of the following win conditions:

  • palinchron + high tide + aetherflux/blue sun/pull from tomorrow/mind's desire/chaining draw spells/enter the infinite

  • resolve enter the infinite (gives us enough resources to resolve an actual wincon)

  • dramatic reversal/isochron scepter + mana rocks adding to two + aetherflux/untapped jvp/sensei's top

  • dramatic/scepter + mana rocks adding to 3 or more mana + aetherflux/untapped jvp/top/blue sun/pull from tomorrow/mind's desire

  • aetherflux in play early + a really long combo turn (4 players = 3 opponents, means we'll need 150+ hp, so we'd have to gain at least 110, which is very doable on a combo turn even without going infinite)

  • with baral or sapphire in play double high tide down, archaeomancer and snap generate infinite spellcasts and mana, just like palinchron or dramatic/scepter

the actual "I win/you lose the game" typically results from labman, from aetherfluxing people to death, or from decking people with blue sun.
