Update 6/5/17
Hey dudes, quick little update for ya! Went down to SCG Baltimore, had an absolute blast! Didn't have a positive record, but I'm really impressed with the deck's performance none the less! I learned a lot, met some really cool people, and played some great magic overall! Also, I had some cards to trade, so I went ahead and picked up a set of Misty Rainforest right before the event started. Turn 2 mandrills won me a lot of games, so it was definitely worth! Even got to play 2 mandrills turn 2 against mill lol.
Overall record was 4-5
0-2 vs R/G Ponza
2-1 vs Abzan Death Shadow
0-2 vs Burn
1-2 vs Mill
0-2 vs Merfolk
2-1 vs Counters Company
2-1 vs Elves
2-0 vs Dredge
0-2 vs U/W Control
Even though I didn't go positive, I'm still more than happy to have done as well as I did against some top-tier decks. Will definitely be going to more tourneys in the future, just for the fun of it!
Update 5/15/17
Finally got around to playing at a FNM. Went 2-1 against Abzan, 2-1 against B/R control, and lost 0-2 to Abzan Coco
Moved GQ onto mainboard, but I don't feel too great about replacing it with Vines. I'd like to find something better honestly, but I'm not sure what. Will probably move GQ back onto the side if I feel like the mana is too inconsistent. Have also been putting thought into getting a play set of Misty Rainforest, not sure if they're worth the investment(I mean, they definitely are, but Im not sure I have the cash to spare right now).
Also I changed the deck name, because, lets face it, its not really a shoestring budget anymore lol.
Update 4/27/17
Its been a while since I've updated the deck, but I'm really happy with the state it's in currently. By no means is it a top tier deck, but it's fun as hell, and I think its flexible enough to deal with a number of different decks. Still needs more play testing though, my local pool of modern players is fairly small.
The sideboard is the weakest part in my opinion, just because I haven't played against enough top tier decks to know how it preforms versus them. As such, I'm still looking for any advice for side-boarding that you guys are willing to give!
Thank you very much for taking the time to look at my deck! Any comment/suggestion would be greatly appreciated, even if it's as simple as "This deck sucks because of X very obvious thing you idiot"
This deck draws heavy inspiration from other delver decks such as:
