This is the deck i got when i first started playing MTG and since then have had a few wins and losses under my belt! (Twas the event deck that was in the Born of Theros set if anyones interested :) )
The main strategy of my deck (personally) is to summon waves of cheap, expendable monsters like Rakdos Cackler, Rakdos Shred-Freak, Tormented Hero and Mogis Maruder (once those are out, the games usually won unless they take out Mogis on the turn its been summon OR i am up against another Black-Mana player!) while using cheap Instant/Sorcery cards like Duress, Doomblade and Cremate (one of my favorite combos is to destroy an opponents monster and then use Cremate to prevent them from reviving it while being able to draw a card!). Should the opponent not bow to the first wave of creatures, then i'd turn it up a notch and provide powerful boosts such as Spiteful Return, Erebos Emissary, Herald of Torment, Staff of the Death-Magus, Gray Merchant of Asphodel and even Desecration Demon to finish off the opposition!
My personal combos, in addition to the Destroy and Cremate, are:
Rakdos Cackler
x 3 +
Rakdos Shred-Freak
x + Mogis Marauder +
Xathrid Necromancer
Summon a wave of monsters and use Mogis to grant them Intimidate and Haste - Should the Human Creatures die they come back as Zombies!
Herald of Torment
+ Desecration Demon + Grey Merchant of Asphodel x 2 + 3-6 swamps
High-Mana Devotion allows me to take advantage of Asphodels give and take Life ability
Erebos Emissary + Desecration Demon +
Fated Return
*Discard my stronger cards using Erebos Emissary and then revive it with Fated Return to gain Indestructible; bit pricey mana-wise but it certainly gets the job done *
While i am extremely happy with my deck and the combos i can do, eventually someone will notice what i do and then counter it with something worse, so is theres a way to increase its potential? Would it help if i use another type of Mana, like Red or White to compliment some of my wilder effects i tend to get?
I look forward to the feedback :D
