Made the top 8 of a 50 person SCG IQ
Round 1: Loss to Jeskai Control in two, kept poor hands with poor draws compounded by mana problems.
Round 2: Win against UR Delver in two, deck came out reasonably fast both games.
Round 3: Win against UR Chief Engineer in three. This deck was a brew that basically powers out Batterskull and Wurmcoil Engine off of Chief Engineer and Grand Architect with an aggressive blue creature base including Cloudfin Raptor. It puts up a lot of brick walls that are hard for my creatures to get through but Falkenrath Aristocrat went over my opponent's many groundpounders before he could start gaining much life in games 2 and 3.
Round 4: Win against UR Delver in three. Long grindy games, including a game 3 where my opponent cast every Treasure Cruise in his deck, but I killed his threats and drew enough copies of Geralf's Messenger and Falkenrath Aristocrat to get there.
Round 5: Win against Affinity in three. Razor close games. Blood Artist and Zealous Persecution were all-stars.
Round 6: Win by opponent's gracious concession after three long games that went to time against UWR Twin (the Village Bell-Ringer version). He efficiently answered my threats thanks largely to Path to Exile. This match highlighted this deck's ability to take advantage of Volcanic Fallout as the sweeper of choice right now instead of Anger of the Gods
Quarterfinals of Top 8: Loss in three games to Big Zoo. I expected this matchup to be worse than it actually was. While Falkenrath Aristocrat and Geralf's Messenger won the first game after discard cleared out my opponent's Path to Exiles he took games two and three after drawing a stream of gas while I flooded and was somewhat inhibited by Grafdigger's Cage.
In summary, I was extremely happy with the deck's overall performance. While I intend to continue to play it and work on it, I can't recommend it to anyone as a serious alternative to the other aggro decks in the format. The only real advantage it likely has over Zoo is a potentially somewhat stronger combo matchup thanks to the discard package.
