Sidisi Reanimator

Commander / EDH*

Control the living and the dead with Sidisi, Brood Tyrant. Sidisi reanimator is a deck based on filling the graveyard to reanimate powerful creatures and create a mass of zombies. This is a work in progress deck and is constantly being updated.

Objective

Sidisi gains value by milling herself. Every time one or more creatures are milled during a single effect, a zombie is created. This allows Sidisi to create a board presence without the need to cast creatures. Sidisi can then use these zombies to block, sacrifice, or even attack. As a commander, Sidisi's utility is phenomenal. She synergizes with the deck with her own mill ability and by creating creatures from that milling.

By putting cards into the graveyard, Sidisi puts into place combos which can win the game as early as turn two with the perfect opening hand. Sidisi has multiple combos at her disposal, giving herself resilience against hate.

Combos

Sidisi features many combos which can win the game quickly. Each combo gains strength from Sidisi putting cards in the graveyard.

Food Chain Combo (FCC):

  • The fastest and most powerful combo in the deck is the Food Chain Combo. This combo works by getting Food Chain onto the battlefield along with Eternal Scourge. By feeding on Eternal Scourge, an infinite amount of mana of every color can be created. This is achieved by sacrificing Eternal Scourge to Food Chain to gain 4 mana of any color. 3 of that mana is then spent to cast Eternal Scourge again, netting 1 mana of any color. This process is repeated any number of times, adding an enormous amount of to the mana pool. After this process, Sidisi herself may be cast from the command zone, milling herself three cards and often creating a zombie. Sidisi is then fed to Food Chain, where she will return to the command zone, where she may be cast again. At this point, by casting and feeding Sidisi to Food Chain, the entire library is put into the graveyard and an army of zombies is created. Now, the best play is to cast Dread Return with its flashback ability, sacrificing zombies or Sidisi to the cost. The target of Dread Return will often be Eternal Witness, returning Walking Ballista from the graveyard to the hand. Still with an incredible amount of mana floating, Walking Ballista may be cast with enough +1/+1 counters to kill everyone at the table.

  • FCC may also be used to win with Laboratory Maniac. After milling the entire library, Dread Return Laboratory Maniac and then with and 3 life, flashback Deep Analysis to trigger Laboratory Maniac's win condition. Note that Food Chain mana cannot be spent to flashback Deep Analysis as it may only be spent to cast creature spells. This flashback mana must come from other mana sources.

  • Assembling FCC can be accomplished turn two. I've done this with an amazing opening hand of Watery Grave, Hinterland Harbor, Birds of Paradise, Food Chain, Vampiric Tutor, Mana Crypt, and Chromatic Lantern. Turn one I played Watery Grave, cast Mana Crypt and Chromatic Lantern, then used Lantern's mana to cast Vampiric Tutor. Turn two I played Hinterland Harbor, cast Birds and Food Chain, then fed Birds to Food Chain for . I was able to use the mana from Food Chain to cast Eternal Scourge to assemble the combo.

  • The deck has many tutors to assemble FCC such as Worldly Tutor for Eternal Scourge, Demonic Tutor and Vampiric Tutor for anything, Mystical Tutor to grab another tutor, and Eldritch Evolution or Birthing Pod to turn a mana dork into Eternal Scourge.

Mike and Trike

  • A popular combo for reanimation decks is to get both Mikaeus, the Unhallowed and Triskelion on the battlefield together. With these two creatures on the field together, infinite damage can be dealt to all opponents. This works by Triskelion's ability to remove +1/+1 counters to deal damage to a player. Combo by removing 1 counter from Triskelion to deal 1 damage to an opponent, and then remove the remaining two from Triskelion to deal 2 damage to itself, causing it to die. Thanks to Mikaeus granting Undying, Triskelion will return to the battlefield with 4 +1/+1 counters. Now, 2 counters may be removed from Triskelion to deal 2 damage and then the last 2 removed to kill Triskelion and repeat the process forever.

  • Note that Triskelion must be able to deal 2 damage to itself in order to to die because it has base power and toughness 1/1 and Mikaeus gives all nonhuman creatures a static +1/+1.

  • This combo does not work well with Walking Ballista as Ballista will only enter with 1 counter due to Undying and will have +1/+1 from Mikaeus. Ballista would need to deal 1 damage to itself to die and since it only enters with the 1 counter, would not deal damage to any opponent. This is why both Triskelion and Ballista are in the deck.

Necrotic Ooze

  • Necrotic Ooze can win the game by gaining the activated abilities of powerful creatures in the graveyard. Assemble this combo by using Buried Alive to put Ooze, Phyrexian Devourer, and Triskelion or Walking Ballista in the graveyard. Then, by reanimating Ooze with a number of reanimation spells, win through Devourer's and Triskelion's abilities. Exile the top card of the library to put a number of +1/+1 counters on Ooze equal to the CMC of the exiled card. Then, after making a pleasantly large Ooze, remove counters from it to deal damage to opponents and kill them.

  • Note Phyrexian Devourer's ability text has been updated to read

When Phyrexian Devourer's power is 7 or greater, sacrifice it.
Exile the top card of your library: Put X +1/+1 counters on Phyrexian Devourer, where X is the exiled card's converted mana cost.

The ability no longer places a single +X/+X counter, allowing Ooze to use the ability along with Triskelion and Walking Ballista.

  • Although Devourer states to sacrifice it when it's power is 7 or greater, this ability is a triggered ability and so Necrotic Ooze will not gain it. Ooze does not need to be sacrificed when it's power is greater than 6.

  • This combo works best with a full library. After too much of the library is put into the graveyard, Necrotic Ooze might not gain enough +1/+1 counters from exiled cards to kill every opponent. Always try to assemble this combo with a full library.
