Commander: Animar, Soul of Elements

Animar has claimed the title of my favorite EDH general, and indeed, my favorite card of all time. I can't think of a more perfect commander for me, as he exemplifies every single aspect of how I play.

Animar's ability to function as an aggro, combo, and midrange general is incredible. Dozens of combos are possible with the help of the giant RUG elemental. Animar can also outrace several commanders by casting numerous creatures on the same turn.

Ramp is always a nice tool and this deck has several options.

Birds of Paradise

Lotus Cobra

Solemn Simulacrum

Somberwald Sage

Wood Elves

Sakura-Tribe Elder

Oracle of Mul Daya

Turn 1-2 Animar is possible in this deck. Several cards have earned their place for this very reason-

Wild Cantor

Simian Spirit Guide

Elvish Spirit Guide

Lotus Petal

Birds of Paradise

At worst, they can provide free colored mana in later turns to help cast larger threats. At best, they can cheat Animar out more quickly. Free mana will never stop being awesome.

An opponent's permanents getting you down? Look no further-

Flametongue Kavu

Duplicant

Indrik Stomphowler

Venser, Shaper Savant

Bogardan Hellkite

Woodfall Primus

Inferno Titan

Steel Hellkite

Terastodon

Acidic Slime

These cards all function as removal in this deck. Tempo is gained by playing these creatures, as they remove threats and provide bodies to block and beat with. Paired with Deadeye Navigator, these creatures can wipe out an entire board.

Card draw is crucial to keep the threats moving and replaceable.

Mulldrifter

Arcanis the Omnipotent

Edric, Spymaster of Trest

Solemn Simulacrum

Consecrated Sphinx

Soul of the Harvest

Decks heavy in removal are quite common and powerful, so this deck needs to have answers to such a strategy.

Whim of Volrath

Kira, Great Glass-Spinner

Lightning Greaves

Spellskite

It's time for everyone's favorite. I welcome the heavy artillery of this deck to everyone.

It That Betrays

Kozilek, Butcher of Truth

Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre

Artisan of Kozilek

Wurmcoil Engine

Maelstrom Wanderer

Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger

Craterhoof Behemoth

Garruk's Horde

Darksteel Colossus

Blightsteel Colossus

Urabrask the Hidden

Specific card combos-

Deadeye Navigator + half of the cards in this deck

Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker + half of the cards in this deck

Palinchron + Animar, Soul of Elements

Tidespout Tyrant + two free artifact creatures, courtesy of Animar, Soul of Elements
