Sometimes a deck is built for flavor. Sometimes a deck is built because you simply love a card. And sometimes a deck is built solely on the strange mechanics of the card. Thromok managed to take all three for me. With a mechanic like DevourX (Where x is the number of creatures devoured) Thromok's power and toughness skyrocket quickly after eating just a few things. So I thought I'd play this up with cards like Warstorm Surge, and Pandemonium. Then I recalled a particular Lovecraftian horror by the name of Shudde M'ell. A giant thing lurking miles beneath the Earth's surface, occasionally getting barely close enough to cause huge tremors. So then I fit a few more Hellions into the deck because Shudde M'ell's worshipers are beings known as Chthonians, which look just like him, but smaller. Add token generation for the unsuspecting populace, and a bunch of symmetrical card effects and this deck gets arbitrarily high numbers really fast. Theoretically, Thromok can end a game by coming in and attacking once.

Assume 10 creatures devoured. 10 squared is 100. 100 power Thromok enters, and warstorm surge deals 100 damage to a player. Equip Mage Slayer, attack with Thromok because Anger is in the yard. Declaring the attack deals 100 to the second player. The third player tries to kill Thromok to not die and blow me out. Fling. 100 to the face.

But enough magical Christmas land. The deck is interesting and big things happen often. It's a pretty neat way to play.
