Introduction

This deck is inspired by an article on themanabase.com. (Sorry I don't have a link. I can't get it to work.) The way horde magic is played is all players are on a team against the horde deck. A predetermined number of cards are played from the horde deck on each of its turns. All creatures played attack the players (who share a life total). Any damage to the horde deck mills it. The goal of the players is to mill out the horde and kill all remaining creatures. The players have 3 turns to set up before the eldrazi have a turn to strike. This deck was changed to play against Commander Decks. It was also built on a budget; it uses cards that cost (at the time) no more than 35 cents each.

Eldrazi Gameplay

Each turn the Eldrazi play 3 cards from the top of the library. Creatures with PRINTED power or toughness have haste. All others enter tapped. The eldrazi have infinite mana and will activate all abilities immediately after playing creatures. All eldrazi will attack during their combat if able. All decisions of the eldrazi (ingest, annihilator, a couple "target creature" or "target player effects" should be determined randomly (roll of a die). The players share a life total of 40. If the players "mill" a "retreat" or "expedition" from the deck, any player gains control of it. If the eldrazi play one, they will play an additional card each following turn.

Balancing

This deck and gameplay are balanced for play against 2 upgraded preconstructed commander decks. Do you have more powerful decks or more friends that are interested in playing? The deck is highly customizable. The deck can run more of each card to essentially give it a greater life total. Weaker cards can be replaced with more powerful ones (see below). The eldrazi can play more cards per turn and the players can have fewer turns to build a defense. Here are some more powerful cards for $5 or less:

Conclusion

This is a very fun and unique way of playing magic. A deck can be build on a budget, or upgraded for more serious players. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.
