Sideboard

Maybeboard

From the time I saw Shaman of the Pack spoiled there was a desire relit inside me to brew for Standard which was something that has been a long time gone. While I have not built an Elf deck previously I am not a stranger to tribal strategies though mostly working with Goblins previously. But I am well versed in aggro decks and this deck is definitely one.

Initially I was building with a white splash to take advantage of Sunblade Elf, because I wanted 12 one-drops, and for additional options out of the sideboard. I also tried to make Obelisk of Urd work but it always seemed to come up either too late or just not quite fit into the strategy. I quickly moved away from those initial ideas to something more streamlined and working to have some maindeck answers to bigger threats.

I am planning on running this deck out until rotation and seeing what new cogs Battle for Zendikar will bring to replace the rotating pieces.

So running into Abzan Aggro and musing on UR Thopters I became less impressed with Ultimate Price and decided to go for a straight-up swap into Hero's Downfall. Also, in the sideboard Nylea, God of the Hunt has really been more of a placeholder waiting to be replaced by Pharika, God of Affliction who is good against these Rally the Ancestors decks running about.
