What do you do when all your friends are dead? Simple. Reanimate them from the grave... again... and again... and again...

This is a high budget Meren deck designed to squeeze out value from our board, while squeezing the life out of our opponents. Do you like Stax? Do you like Green and Black? Do you like stopping your opponents dead in their tracks while you run away with the game? If so then this is the deck for you my friend.

Getting a good start with this deck is key. When our opponents see that our Commander is Meren, many of them will decide that it's time to play archenemy. While it's not an ideal situation, this deck can pull out a win even when focused by the table. From the start we want to be able to set up to explode. Using mana dorks, early STAX effects, and tutors, our aim is to pull ahead of our opponents. As soon as possible we want to seek out some way of locking down the board. Fleshbag Marauder / Merciless Executioner // Plaguecrafter to keep the board clear of creatures. Contamination straight up turns some decks off, and Ophiomancer / Bitterblossom gives you a free sac and free deathtouch blocker every turn in the case of Ophiomancer. If you're playing against non-black decks with no way to fix their mana outside of lands, they're dead in the water. Dropping down Stax effects that affect our opponents more than us is key. Early Trinishpere, Thorn of Amethyst or Sphere of Resistance after dropping our low CMC mana dorks gets us very far ahead. A well timed Tangle Wire or Winter Orb will leave our opponents no fuel to get going. Bottomless Pit will more often than not make our opponents discard their key pieces. Mindslicer decimates control decks if we can trigger its effect. Remember that once our board is set up, topdecking is not an issue. Meren excels in recurring value after all. Lastly, Null Rod and Collector Ouphe shuts down artifact decks, while also turning off their mana rocks for good measure.
Winning through Combat damage and Commander damage is one of our main outs. If our opponents can't put up threats, and their board is clear, beating face with Meren, and Grim Flayer adds up quickly. Add Umezawa's Jitte to the mix piles the damage on faster.

Midgame, draining out our opponents with Gray Merchant of Asphodel keeps our life up, and kills them dead.

Lastly, the main combo set-up. Mikaeus, the Unhallowed and Triskelion gives us infinite damage. If we have a sac outlet, we can also do the same with Walking Ballista . Potean Hulk pulls all our combo pieces out of the deck, at once. If we have a sac outlet on the board, it's as easy as grabbing Mikaeus and Ballista. If we don't have one, or only a single use per turn sac outlet, we grab Phyrexian Delver and Viscera Seer or Carrion Feeder . The Delver brings back the Hulk, which then dies again to grab the rest of the combo.

I hope you enjoyed looking over this build, and as always feel free to leave comments, criticism, and suggestions, maybe a thumbs up if you like it enough.

Updates Add

I completely updated the description to explain the deck a bit more and also added my own custom categories. If anyone has some advice or additions, please feel free to send them. Especially if you see formatting problems or typos. It's my first time doing this for one of my decks so I'm still learning.
