Commander: Derevi, Empyrial Tactician

This is my baby. I have been working/tweaking this deck for a little while now. I believe that I have it close to where it needs to be, every time a new Planeswalker comes out it leads to some tough decisions. I have listed below the reason of inclusion for each card. I would love if the community could enlighten me to some cards that I may have missed/overlooked, and what they should replace and why. That being said, all comments, +1s, suggestions and critiques are much welcome and appreciated.

THE CREATURES

Derevi, Empyrial Tactician - Honestly thinking about changing this to Rubinia Soulsinger . This deck isn't trying to win through Commander damage, so both are good at what they do. Rubinia Soulsinger would make people Think Twice about swinging my way. What does the community think?

Aegis of the Gods MC Hammer said it best, You cant touch this. I know, I know..horrible joke.Archetype of Endurance See bad MC Hammer joke above.Aven Mindcensor If played early enough it can keep combo decks from searching out key pieces.

Birds of Paradise Who doesnt like ramping a little?Edric, Spymaster of Trest You want to draw more cards? Then keep your creatures from entering my red zone :)

Eidolon of Blossoms I think the deck has enough Enchantments to justify this. And it helps a lot when I am making token with Heliod, God of the Sun every turn.Ephara, God of the Polis A nice indestructible way for me to draw cards every turn when Prophet of Kruphix and a token producer is out.

Eternal Witness Allows me to get back any key cards that are in my graveyard for any reason. Pairs nicely with any of the Clone effects and Venser, the Sojourner .

Fatespinner I love this card a lot. It usually saves me from getting attacked until late game.

Heliod, God of the Sun I love being able to swing out and still have blockers on my opponents turn. And not to forget about the tokens enabling Ephara, God of the Polis and Eidolon of Blossoms.

Hushwing Gryff I could go on and on about this card. Rooftop Storm + Gravecrawler + whatever damage engine is huge in my meta, so is Murderous Redcap Shenanigans. I do have to be careful because it effects my clones as well. Having Venser, the Sojourner in play to blink Hushwing Gryff helps in those situations.

Karametra, God of Harvest Nice, indestructible mana ramp. I love it.

Kruphix, God of Horizons Simply an Upwelling for colorless mana. Another card that goes well with Prophet of Kruphix.

Mystic Snake I love my creatures that come with a bonus! Again, have to watch having Hushwing Gryff in play.

Nylea, God of the Hunt Who doesnt love trample? And pump effects? Especially when the enabler is indestructible. Like all of the other indestructible guys, Merciless Eviction type of spells hit and they hit hard.

Phyrexian Metamorph One of the most versatile of the Clone effects ever printed. This guy does so much work for me. Thats a nice Avacyn, Angel of Hope you got there :)

Platinum Angel I know its a cheap way of winning or stalling the game. But it draws a lot of kill spells away from my more important pieces.

Prime Speaker Zegana Again, who doesnt like card draw? And I can always Sakashima the Impostor it to draw more cards while keeping both on the field after.

Prophet of Kruphix What can I say? I like being able to play your turn with you. Sharing is caring.

Sakashima the Impostor Another of my favorite Clone effects. It keeps its name allowing the copying of Legendary creatures. Never overlook the fact that you can bounce it back to your hand either.

Sigarda, Host of Herons A hexproof way of getting around sacrifice decks. Heres looking at you Grave Pact and Dictate of Erebos.

Tajuru Preserver Same as Sigarda, except it comes down for early game. Sadly it doesnt have the hexproof :(

Thassa, God of the Sea Swinging in an unblockable creature is nice. The scrying away unneeded cards before my draw is better.

Venser, Shaper Savant Your huge, unblockable creature is coming at me? Venser, Shaper Savant says no. He also says no to non counterable spells.

Voidmage Husher Your Planeswalkers are about to ultimate? Felidar Sovereign is about to win you the game? Might want to Think Twice about that.

THE SORCERIES

Farseek Early game mana ramp for Shocklands.

Supreme Verdict Uncounterable board wipes are fun.

Wrath of God Im loving the FTV Annihilation artwork with Heliod, God of the Sun. Not only does this slow your opponents game plan down, the flavor is nice with Heliod, God of the Sun being in the deck.

THE INSTANTS

Condemn Such a great card. Youre trying to kill me with Kaalia of the Vast or a huge General? I dont think so friend.

Cyclonic Rift I usually only use this when absolutely necessary. I dont like dying to a lot of creatures that I dont have any other answers to. About the only other time I use it is when I know that I can win on my turn.

Dissipate You like counterspells? You like exiling problematic cards? Then you've come to the right place.

Hinder Great versatile Counterspell. You want to set them back a draw? You want to put Kaalia of the Vast on the bottom? This can be your best friend. I really need to acquire a Spell Crumple as well.

Krosan Grip Who doesnt love split second destruction? One of my favorites is when they attempt to cast Darksteel Forge and I blow up their Mycosynth Lattice in response.

Path to Exile Handles all of your pesky indestructible critters. Yes, we are looking at you Avacyn, Angel of Hope.

Polymorphist's Jest Youre swinging for game? Not so fast my friend.

Render Silent Another of the versatile Counterspells. Great against combo.

Sphinx's Revelation Im mainly using this for the extra card draw. However, it can save me from dying at times.

Swords to Plowshares See Path to Exile.

Trickbind Same effect as Voidmage Husher , but with the added bonus of Split Second.

Voidslime One of my favorite Counterspells of all time. Counter a spell, activated ability, or triggered ability all for just three mana.

THE PLANESWALKERS

Ajani, Caller of the Pride This guy, as with all of the Planeswalkers, is definitely better with Doubling Season in play. He does help the weenies in the deck dodge Lightning Bolt and Shock effects.

Ajani Goldmane Honestly thinking about taking this guy out. He is usually underwhelming.

Ajani, Mentor of Heroes One of the all-stars of the deck. He helps me search out more friends. His ultimate is pretty much useless in EDH however.

Ajani Steadfast The best Ajani ultimate of all time in my honest opinion. If you pop this off in EDH you will usually outlast your opponents, speaking from experience. It doesnt stop infinite mill or damage however. It does take twentyone swings from a General though.

Elspeth, Knight-Errant Gotta love that ultimate.

Elspeth, Sun's Champion Great token producer, gets rid of the bigger threats, and the ultimate is nothing to sneeze at.

Garruk, Caller of Beasts Helps me search out creatures from the top of my deck. The ultimate is one of my favorites as well.

Garruk, Primal Hunter Tokens, card draw, and even more tokens.

Jace Beleren A little group huggy, but usually helps me more. And if someone is being a complete DB I can always pop the ultimate.

Jace, Memory Adept If people are being friendly, like they should be, his ultimate helps everyone.

Jace, the Living Guildpact He has been decent so far. I mostly use him for thinning my deck. But his ultimate is fun sometimes :)

Jace, the Mind Sculptor I DO NOT DO HIS ULTIMATE!!! I absolutely refuse to in EDH. He is one expensive bleeping brainstorm once a turn.

Kiora, the Crashing Wave Card draw and extra lands. The plus one is great against huge creatures that kill you in one swing.

Tamiyo, the Moon Sage I love being able to ultimate her, then ultimate my other Planeswalkers to get them back for later casting.

Venser, the Sojourner Blinking out creatures with awesome ETB effects, going in unblockable for the win, and exiling stuff when casting a spell. Pretty good right?

Doubling Season I am honestly surprised that the RC hasnt banned this yet. It can be taken care of easily enough though. This is in here to pop ultimates immediately when needed.

Dueling Grounds I really dont like dying to hordes of creatures coming at me all at once. Protects the Planeswalkers as well.

Leyline of Anticipation Playing on other peoples turns is fun :)

Mirari's Wake Doubling the mana and pumping the creatures.

THE ARTIFACTS

Contagion Engine Another Planeswalker enabler. I really do wish that the all creatures part was a may ability. This deck may look a little mean, but I dont play it that way. I am a huge advocate for the true spirit of EDH.

Elixir of Immortality Protection against Graveyard removal or if my deck gets too low with the amount of card draw that I am running.

The Chain Veil Its never bad when you can use your Planeswalkers twice on your turn. I honestly expect this to be banned when the Planeswalker Teferi is printed in Commander 2014. His ultimate + The Chain Veil + any untap all permanents ability = complete craziness. I hope to at least pull it off once.

THE LANDS

The guildgates are here until I can get the ABUR Dual Lands. I just happen to be running the colors of some of the most expensive ones. At least Savannah is under $100. I think the mana base is decent. If anyone can recommend some lands that I might have overlooked, please let me know!!!

Suggestions

Updates Add

Took out Gideon, Champion of Justice and added Sigarda, Host of Herons. Gideon, Champion of Justice is always a dead card in my hand. Sigarda, Host of Herons is a hexproof way of protecting against Grave Pact and such.
