My goal was to create a tournament-worthy Modern Treefolk deck.

The goals of this deck are to survive the major archetypes in Modern: Storm, Jund, Zoo, Pod, Scapeshift, Living End, Tron, etc., and then beat them down with cost-effective Treefolk. This is where the non-creature spells come into play (Path to Exile, Thoughtseize, Abrupt Decay). The charms add some versatility that could come in handy. The last "control" card is Gaddock Teeg.

As for creatures, the mana curve seems to work out very well. Treefolk Harbinger can search for most of the lands in the deck, or whichever Treefolk you need at the time. This deck can get out some hard hitters very fast.

Sapling of Colfenor can be used for card advantage and life gain, while Courser of Kruphix and Leaf-Crowned Elder provide card advantage as well.
