Animar, Soul of Elements

Commander / EDH RUG (Temur)

When I was exploring more options on what kind of deck I wanted to run, I saw these Animar, Soul of Elements Morph decks on YouTube, and wanted to create one for myself. I can see that the Commander itself is on the expensive side when it comes to spending money on cards, but the Megamorph/Morph cards themselves are pretty cheap, so I don't think it will take up a lot of my bank to create the deck.

1/11/19: As to this date, this deck is no longer budget since I received a Cyclonic Rift, but it's easily replaceable. Let me know if you need a replacement for your budget needs.

2/23/19: After neglecting this deck for quite a while, I decided on changing the direction of this deck a bit. The Morphs will still be the primary theme, but I am attempting to include cards like Eldrazis and ones that enable +1/+1 Counters throughout my board to take advantage of the Creature mana cost discounts. Our meta also plays a lot of removal/board wipes, so I will have to cut my Creature count as well to the lower 30's. This deck will be another work in progress.

3/12/19: Taking back the previous update, I decided to forgo the Eldrazi theme and make the deck revolve around +1/+1 counters as well as make my Morph cards the supporting option. The straight creatures I added in my deck such as Taurean Mauler and Managorger Hydra will become beatsticks while I get my Commander set up for large plays. Although the Morphs can become mana-taxing if Animar, Soul of Elements is not on board, I think they can come in handy because my opponents would become more wary of what spells they should play and how they plan to interact with my field. My game plan still requires a good amount of set-up to succeed, so I'm still working on the kinks of how I can accomplish my objective without the large amount of set-up. This idea will sit for quite a while.

3/27/19: After a couple of runs with this new decklist, I actually like how it runs. I don't have to be stuck with Morph creatures in my hand that don't affect the game state much, but I can end up utilizing cards like Path of Discovery to pump my creatures and Overwhelming Stampede to secure damage to lethal. May still need a bit of playtesting here and there.

5/29/19: Changing the full direction of this deck. See update here.

6/6/19: I played a couple of rounds with this deck, and it has substantially improved. The combos were always present, and it was a major threat to the table no matter what part of the game. There will be edits here and there, but the synergy is clear. The strongest downside, however, is that it is all gas, and I may face a lot of crack back by the group after the engine becomes shut down.
