Maybeboard

Invocation of Saint Traft

First, Geist is much more reliable when he can't be blocked. Enter Distortion Strike, Slip Through Space, Aqueous Form, Flickering Ward, Spirit Mantle, Steel of the Godhead, and Thassa, God of the Sea. Phantom Wings and Gift of Immortality have the added bonus of letting Geist survive board wipes and sacrifice, one of his only weaknesses.

We also benefit when Geist is as huge as possible. Enter Ethereal Armor, Invocation of Saint Traft, Sword of Fire and Ice and Sword of War and Peace.

After swinging with Geist, we often have an empty field or perhaps a single blocker. Since our damage is so consistent, being able to control the board allows us to ensure nothing foils our inevitable damage output.

First, we can dig through our deck for answers with Ponder, Preordain, Enlightened Tutor, Curiosity, and scrying from Aqueous Form and Thassa, God of the Sea. Since we have a fair amount of spirits, Tallowisp can also be a surprising source of aura tutoring. And just in case we need something really badly (or Geist is put into our library), Drift of Phantasms can be transmuted. Cavern of Souls also lets us guarantee Geist's entry against control decks.

Second, we can answer threats on the battlefield with Azorius Charm, Condemn, Cyclonic Rift, Path to Exile, Detention Sphere, Oblivion Ring, and Sigil of Sleep. Oh, and name their leader with Meddling Mage. Ouch.

Geist is a badass, but we have to survive whatever the opponent throws at us. Apart from controlling their board, we can also hide behind Dawn Charm, Holy Day, Ethereal Haze, Kami of False Hope, Drift of Phantasms, and Wall of Denial.
