How to Lose Friends and Alienate People

Commander / EDH* Artifact Control Stax WU (Azorius)

GoodGolly

Weatherlight

“What separates junk from treasure is imagination.” -Hanna, Weatherlight Navigator

¡Deck was disassembled after Paradox Engine Banning!

Hanna, Ship's Navigator is hands down my most powerful deck. She has control, recursion, and protection all in spades. She relies a lot on her artifacts to win, but she can deal with most incoming threats thanks to her variety of counterspells and powerful recursion tap ability. It's amazing to me that this deck is practically (not entirely) unthreatened by mill, since you treat your graveyard sort of like a second hand. In the event you get your Paradox Engine out and have infinite mana, you can play every single artifact and enchantment from your graveyard. It's basically a more complicated Open the Vaults, which we're running as well.

Funnily enough, I tend to stick my Lightning Greaves on Padeem, Consul of Innovation, as it protects so much of my board. The majority of my winds do tend to come from Diligent Excavator, but my backup wincons can be infinite turn control with Mindslaver, "creature" swamp with Opalescence, or complete board removal with the correct instant on an Isochron Scepter. I'm not sure I want a Lab Maniac in this deck, but I should probably add him at some point or another.

Deck Struggles

I don't generally see this deck struggle unless I'm careless with my mana. Keep your blue open for that counterspell. Don't be afraid to pull out the Isochron Scepter + Trickbind combo. As long as you play conservatively, Hanna should keep your ship from sinking. After all, there's no one better suited to navigating our well-oiled machine.

Noteworthy Combos

Hanna's combos are interesting, as the majority of them require some infinite mana shenanigans. Most of the time requiring some mana rocks and either Dramatic Reversal + Isochron Scepter or Isochron Scepter + Paradox Engine . You can also get away with some colored mana rocks like Gilded Lotus or Azorius Signet and a Paradox Engine, so long as you've got Hanna, Ship's Navigator out and something like Claws of Gix in either your graveyard or on the battlefield.
