What does Zur have to offer the Blue/Black storm strategy?

1. He fetches Necropotence, which allows you to draw a lot of cards and accelerate your gameplan - you will find your combo pieces very quickly after landing Necropotence

2. He fetches Blind Obedience, which is an outlet for the infinite mana and storm count generated by the Isochron Scepter/Dramatic Reversal combo

3. He fetches Phyrexian Unlife, which stops you losing the game for having less than zero life - this allows you to win the game by drawing your entire deck with Ad Nauseam

4. He gives you access to white which has Angel's Grace, which combos with Ad Nauseam in the same way as Phyrexian Unlife, and white also has excellent tools to remove problematic permanents, such as Grasp of Fate and Supreme Verdict. Day of Judgement and Supreme Verdict are cheap, effective mass removal cards that can substitute for Toxic Deluge and Cyclonic Rift, bringing down the price of the deck.

The main difference in playstyle between this deck and my budget Kess build is that Kess has better access to the graveyard, which allows more flexible storm lines, but Kess is constrained by your life total - Zur can go for an Ad Nauseam win even if your life total is very low because of the Phyrexian Unlife/Angel's Grace and Ad Nauseam combo. Zur makes it easier to win with Isochron Scepter/Dramatic reversal combo because you don't have to go looking for something to do with infinite mana - it's right there in the Command Zone - just attack with Zur to get Blind Obedience. Kess has better counterspells, Zur has better removal.

There is no backup Laboratory Maniac/Demonic Consultation win-condition in this deck because it doesn't synergise with the commander as it does with Kess.
