Maybeboard

I had a playset of Isochron Scepters and ran across the Absorb Identity card. I thought it would be fun to build a shapeshifter control deck for our kitchen magic group (2-6 players). We try to stick to modern, but generally the decks are casual format (albeit some are really strong). I tried to not go super specific (probably at my detriment) with the instants for Isochron, so that I have answers for a wide variety of decks.

The overall thought of the deck is to control the board with Isochron Scepters, and utilize opponents best creatures/permanents against them with the shapeshifters. It's a little tough to playtest, as so much of the deck relies on what opponents are doing and what my shapeshifters can turn into. I'd love your thoughts!

Instants

  • Absorb Identity - Temporary removal that can make my shapeshifters nasty.
  • Darkness - Keep myself or an opponent alive, lots of shenanigans here.
  • Offer Immortality - Can be used on my creatures to duplicate with Orvar, the All-Form, protect my creatures, or can use it to control opponents during their attacks to remove or keep things alive.
  • Sheoldred's Edict - I'm sacrificing targeted removal here, but gaining versatility. It gives me a way to remove Planeswalkers, bypasses Hexproof/Shroud/Indestructible, and applies to all opponents.

Lands

Seat of the Synod and Vault of Whispers makes this deck not modern legal. Because this is mostly a casual playgroup, I think I'm going to leave them in. The only benefit of them is with Unwinding Clock (which I only have two of), and the power of this deck isn't overpowered IMHO.
