Maybeboard

This is my post-rotation upgrade to G/B Devotion. This deck was very fun in the previous standard, though it's lost and gained some.

This green devotion deck is built around Garruk, Apex Predator. 7 mana is a lot, which disqualifies our crazy friend from most decks. Green devotion, on the other hand, can make a staggering amount of mana very quickly.

I'm sticking to 8 mana dorks since 11 was WAY too much in the previous standard.. Next comes Courser, whose card advantage and life gain cannot go ignored in this metagame, especially with the fetches.. Speaking of card advantage, Eidolon of Blossoms steps in to gain incremental advantages over time (10 enchantments in deck, not including snake tokens!).

Finally, we have the mana dumps: Polukranos, Nylea, and Pharika. Nylea and Polukranos are the major win conditions for the deck.

My goal with this deck is to cause a board stall, gain huge card advantage, and take over with a mana dump or Garruk.

Updates Add

Here's my post-rotation update. I'll be sleeving this deck for the next week or so until my new cards arrive in the mail.

This deck lost BTE, Garruk, Caller of Beasts, Vraska, Golgari Charm, Ultimate Price, and Overgrown Tomb. The last one hurts the most since it minimizes my splash capabilities.

I'm trying a couple of different cards in an already powerful shell:

1) See the Unwritten - You can't go wrong with 1-2 free creatures. I'm testing this as a replacement of Garruk, Caller of Beasts. It's less powerful, but it's had a good showing in playtesting.

2) Genesis Hydra - I went from 0, to 1, and now 2 in the main. I'm not sure if I want a full playset, but I will try 3 in the near future.

3) Reclamation Sage - It's a one-of main and I'll probably have another side-board. It's great against Banishing Light and Courser of Kruphix.

4) [[Soul of Zendikar] - There seems to be a non-debate between Arbor Colossus and Soul with most decks going for the Colossus. There's a definite case to be made for soul - It's one mana more, but it also gives value if it's immediately downfalled. It's a great mana dump, too. I'll definitely be testing both out.

5) Nissa, Worldwaker - I'm not sure if I should be playing 1 Nissa or 2 Apex Predator's. Or maybe 2-3 Nissa and 1 Apex Predator. I've loved playing both in playtesting, so having some number seems right, I just don't know the balance, yet.

The sideboard is completely in the air right now. I'll include more proactive cards like Setessan Tactics, Doomwake Giant, Whip of Erebos, The next couple weeks will be fun!
