Parallel Lives is one of the main win-cons in this deck but isn't necessary to win. The double effects for Populate is just insane. Wayfaring Temple and Elspeth Tirel are the main win-cons. Ajani, Mentor of Heroes allows you buff creatures, and provides a life-gain "must deal with this card threat". Secure the Wastes is the most efficient card in the deck, as it provides an insane amount of tokens late game with Parallel Lives and is just great early on. Growing Ranks synergizes well with the elemental tokens. Call of the Conclave and Advent of the Wurm provide a counter higher than their CMC, a 3/3 for 2, a 5/5 (with trample) for 4, so they're just good, and they proc Populate. Scion of Vitu-Ghazi just provides a 4/4 body a token, and a populate proc, so it's good as well.
