Maybeboard

5c Wish deck, including a maybe board of all possible Wishboard targets

Here is the philosophy behind the deck: Wishing for a card should be powerful. The hope is that when you cast your first wish you get a card that immediately swings the tide of the game in your favor. To that regard, I have split all wish targets into 4 categories:

Wincons

This is the most straight forward category. The idea behind wishing for a wincon is to pick one that will be most applicable against a given deck. A card like Dragonlord Dromoka may be best against an aggro deck due to her lifegain, or best against a control deck to shut down counterspells. Worm Harvest is another resilient card, which gives you multiple tokens to go wide and dodge spot removal, while also being castable multiple times to persevere through board wipes and counterspells alike. Finally, in a few matches you might find a card like Leyline Binding + Zur, Eternal Schemer useful, to showcase some sudden damage to win at an opportune time.

Removal.

This is the second simplest category. While it might be easy to add a bunch of specific removal spells into the wishboard, wishing for a single Void Rend or even a single Maelstrom Pulse isn't as spectacular as one might think. I have found the best 3 targets are: Supreme Verdict (Wrath that will always happen), Culling Ritual (Destroy all small permanents fairly quickly) and Fracturing Gust (Shred apart your opponent's Artifact or Enchantment deck with one card). Often, these cards either save me from losing or decimate my opponents plan and turn the tide in my favor. Beyond these three cards, it is hard to imagine a big win being Glittering Wish + Void Rend .

Card Advantage

Card Advantage is really in the wish board for more unknown situations. The philosophy behind the deck is that you can find the perfect card for any given situation by wishing for it, so wishing for card advantage doesn't quite fit. However, there are 2 situations I have found myself in that required card advantage in one way or another. The first is when I am slightly ahead, maybe I already wished for my wincon, but I want to secure that win, and have found myself another wish. In this scenario, wishing for something like Teferi, Hero of Dominaria can help secure that win by acting as card draw, land untap, and even removal in super sticky situations. The other tough situation I have found myself in is when my wincon is removed. In some cases, finding a wincon card is dependent on my opponent not having the one or two cards in their deck to beat it. In the cases where I find my wincon in my graveyard, a little bit of redundancy can go a long way. One of my favorite examples of this has been Colossal Skyturtle Not only can this card be used to get back a card from my graveyard, but in certain conditions I may find myself bouncing a permanent to my opponent's hand, or even casting this behemoth 6/5 flyer!

Gotcha!

The last and toughest category is the Gotcha category. While I wouldn't call these wincons exactly, they are cards like Wheel of Sun and Moon where if I resolve it against Mill, I just win. These are few and far between, but they do exist. A combo deck might just fold to a well timed Slaughter Games, or a deck that relies on fetching will fold to a turn 3 Ashiok, Dream Render. Every once in a while this category spills over into another. Fracturing Gust is a good example of a card that just wins against Enchantress, but also works well to gain me life and kill Eidolon of the Great Revel against burn.
