Right, I have been out the game for some time but I always used to play U/W control when I could. I know how powerful B/U control is these days but I think there is enough cards out there for U/W to make a return, and at the same time, me too!
This is a slightly different take on most control decks, as you may have noticed there is a decent amount of creature threat in the deck (mostly tokens). It can generate a great defence with it's removal, counters and tokens while the planeswalkers ramp up in power. The devotion mechanics work well in this situation and I have pretty much sacrificed Ugin for a little early game pressure and potential game winning (Soul of Theros + Secure the Wastes, or Elspeth with either) as well as mid game advantage like the Mentor and Ojutia. With all the hate and non-creature spells, these should stick and cause problems for quite a while. The Nyx-Fleeces are great early and the Ojutais command can return them. Even if Ojutai himself can't finish the game, he is a card drawer or a hexproof flying blocker to keep the planeswalkers walkin'.Small combos include Narset +1 with Flooded Strand if don't like the result. Myth/Mentor with most almost every instant, Heliod, Ephara, Elspeth, Secure the Wastes for an extra card every turn, Valorous stance with End Hostilities for a survivor after board sweep (or to keep devotion for the already indestructible gods), Elspeth destruction while tokens in play for free swings and Ajani with the other walkers or mass tokens! There are probably many more but you get the idea!
The Sideboard:
Another End Hostilities and AEtherspouts incase its a deck that just overruns us. 2 Negates for mirror, discard or burn decks (might even work on other token decks). Deicide and Surge of Righteousness are just removal swaps if they have more chance at hitting a target than Banishing Light. Stubborn denial is for the players/decks that require tapping out so it doesn't lose its "Force Spike" value, however will change it for disdainful strike or negate if playing against someone conservative. The encase in ice is purely for the horror that is Stormbreath Dragon and finally the combo cards (Heliod + Aphara), they are too risky to play main but vs midrange and slower decks they can cause serious damage.
Edit: Tweaked the deck again, mixed up some of the counterspells, added the anticipates in and removed Myth all together. Also after a long conversation and advice from my comments, Narset is replaced with Jace.
Thanks for reading, hope you like the deck - It still has a lot of work to do and even more testing!
