With the current metta in standard, I wanted to play something different. I don't particularly like playing exactly what everyone else is, so with that being said, I started off with a deck based around Narset, Enlightened Master
The deck has consistently gone 3-1 with the occasional 2-2, and almost always one of those losses is due to mono-red, oh well.
Originally the deck was all jeskai, using Lightning Strike and Magma Jet to clear the board of any threats, and the sky ability off of the jet to help set up for the big turn 6 Narset.
A lot of tapped scry lands, again to help see whats coming and try to set yourself up for success against whatever the current board state is.
Just recently I have added black to the mix, and only for Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver and Crackling Doom for the time being. I was having a hard time eliminating threats once they hit the board so adding the Ashiok and crackling doom help to try and keep the threats from ever being drawn, and to clean them up if they are.
At the same time that I added black I also added two Prognostic Sphinx to also give me the edge on the sky ability. With most things being quite high in cost its nice to be able to pick and choose what to keep and hat not to. I have not gotten to play with the sphinx much yet but once I do I will give you more feedback on that.
The main thing is finding cards that are not a dead flip off of Narset.
Could really use some opinions and input on the deck and maybe some changes I can make.
The mana base needs a little work since adding black to the mix, but it hasn't seemed to mess things up at all, and still runs smooth. I'm worried that with too much more changing the deck will no longer work well with Narset, and she is what I want to keep the deck focused around. I think I am going to lose the Ajani Steadfast for another Ashiok simply because IT is just that good.
