Sideboard

This deck is my take on a loosely-themed Pirate/Revel in Riches deck. It was originally meant to start out as a budget build, but I found that I couldn't get around including some of the more expensive cards on the list due to the deck just being bad without a way around Planeswalkers and Hazoret aggro.

The strategy behind this deck is to do everything I can as early as I can to amass Treasure Tokens. In the early game, this is achieved by Wily Goblins and Sailor of Means. Captain Lannery Storm does this as well as applying pressure to my opponents alongside Storm the Vault  .

Once my board state has started to build, Pitiless Plunderer is included as an insurance policy against my creatures being killed. Revel in Riches not only offers me a wincon by amassing Treasure, but it also synergises well with the deck's more aggressive strategy, by comboing with Pitiless Plunderer to really deter blocking. If my opponent does choose to deny me of Treasure by refusing to block, Fatal Push and Cast Down cleans up their board and generates Treasure via Revel in Riches.

Aside from Revel in Riches as the more obvious wincon, I've included some bombs in the form of Tilonalli's Summoner and Torment of Hailfire to push the advantage in case Revel in Riches doesn't pan out. Deadeye Plunderers can also act as a sweeper late-game and can also generate Treasure. Underhanded Designs subtly drains my opponent of life as I generate Treasure, which can help greatly if the match turns into a war of attrition. Twilight Prophet also drains my opponent each turn while also giving me card advantage.

As far as control goes, I decided to keep this list relatively light on control in the mainboard. I opted to forego using counterspells in the place of spot removal like Fatal Push, Cast Down, and Vraska's Contempt in order to maximise my Revel in Riches triggers and to give me a little more agency in dealing with some threats by allowing me to deal with them a bit later, rather than being forced to counter the threat then and there or be stuck with it. The Immortal Sun is in this list as an answer to the Planeswalker-heavy builds that are seeing a lot of play in the current meta, as I was pretty sure that Tezzeret the Schemer and Vraska, Relic Seeker don't measure up to the likes of Karn, Scion of Urza and Teferi, Hero of Dominaria, so it's better for me to omit them in favor of straight-up Planeswalker Denial, and The Immortal Sun's other abilities are also nice. Herald of Anguish is on the list as a multi-faceted threat that threatens 5 damage in the air as well as forcing my opponents to discard each turn.

I'm keen to test this list out at FNM to see how it plays out. Let me know what you think!
