Sideboard

Maybeboard

The Blood Moon rises as ferocious screeches are heard in the distance. A frequent, thundering boom traverses the plains as a flight of dragons swoop in, enveloping the multiverse in fire and blood. The deafening sounds of screams and roaring flames echo throughout the land.

House Targaryen has returned.

With this deck, take control of the multiverse with your dragons.

"If your flesh can withstand the flame, the spirit of the dragon will burn within your soul".

  • Avaricious Dragon - A 4/4 body with flying that can trigger Dragon Tempest and Scourge of Valkas's abilities. This selection is important as in most games your hand will reduce quickly thanks to cheap removal spells. If he sticks, this allows for that ever important card draw to finish the game.

  • Dragon Hatchling - Whilst this card seems poor, it is one of the very few cheap dragons in the game. It will trigger and strengthen the two enter the battlefield effects mentioned before.

  • Scourge of Valkas - This card has been, and continues to be, an absolute powerhouse. If your board builds and you manage to play scourge, the opponent is in for a significant amount of damage. This is a key combo card.

  • Slumbering Dragon - The only 1 drop dragon in the game, providing a similar role to every dragon in this deck. This little beauty also has an added bonus of preventing swarms of weenies attacking early game. The opponent needs to be very careful not to wake this or they're in for a world of pain.

  • Taurean Mauler - I can't even begin to explain how amazing this card is. Everything your opponent plays will only buff him. He is a dragon, triggering our enter the battlefield effects.

  • Thunderbreak Regent - The is a very crucial addition to the deck, as it now adds a form of protection to our creatures. If the opponent wants to remove a threat, they now must take Lightning Bolt to the face.

  • Verix Bladewing - Another 4/4 flying body that has the potential in later game to double trigger the aforementioned combo.

  • Dragon Tempest - Gives our dragons with flying haste, and has the scourge ability for two mana. INSANE card!

  • Slagstorm - Board removal in all it's glory, or, a slap to the face when needed.

  • Draconic Roar - remove a creature and hit face? sounds good.

  • Lightning Bolt - staple in any mono red deck as far as I'm concerned.

  • Sarkhan, Fireblood - House Targaryen's words are "fire and blood". Not only fitting with the theme of this deck, Sarkhan is a beast of an addition in terms of value. Card filtering, mana ramp, and an ultimate that will simply win the game with a Dragon Tempest out.

  • Descent of the Dragons - This is again a bit of later game value. It can kill of a big threat the opponent has and replace it with something easier to deal with, or I can simply attack with everything, replace them with 4/4's and attack again as they have haste with Dragon Tempest out.

  • Haven of the Spirit Dragon - Bring a dragon back from the graveyard. Enough said.

  • Cavern of Souls - Prevents our dragons from being countered.

  • Anger of the Gods - Simply sending a creature to the graveyard isn't enough in some matchups. The exile becomes very useful.

  • Blood Moon - So powerful against almost every multi-colour deck.

  • Glaring Spotlight - deals with hexproof, can provide our creatures with hexproof and unblockable when needed for a final blow.

  • Rending Volley - Because screw and

  • Shattering Spree - Bit of artifact hate.

  • Leyline of Punishment - No lifegain. No damage prevention. Two things which have the potential to shut this deck down.

This deck is extremely easy to win with, a little trickier to master. The key combo is Scourge of Valkas, Dragon Tempest and any other dragon. With Dragon Tempest out, your dragons can effect the board immediately not only with haste, but with a bit of ping.

Use your removal ruthlessly. Early removal and face damage with Draconic Roar paves the way for quick burst damage to finish the game. Helping your board stick is also paramount to success with the deck. Lightning Bolt should be used relatively sparingly. Stacking a couple in your hand can catch an opponent by surprise and finish the game quickly. This isn't a control deck, so total board control isn't necessary. Attack wisely, use removal when necessary and most importantly don't be afraid to go for face.

Dragon Tempest + Descent of the Dragons = (number of creatures you control)^2 worth of damage. If you have 3 creatures, it'll deal 9 damage, 5 creautes; 25 damage.

Also note that when a dragon enters, it counts towards the number of dragons you control. If you have 1 dragon out and then play a second, Dragon Tempest will deal 2 damage as it includes the one just played.

I appreciate any suggestions and support.
