Here's a monoblack EDH deck I've been working on. I'm a beginner at the game, but so far I've been liking the monoblack groove. It's not truly competitive, but more a flavorful showcase what makes Black the best color in the game.

There's no tricks here, this is a vampire tribal aggro combined with black goodstuff. The plan is very simple: Get tons of black mana, cast tons of expensive vampires, get life to draw cards. The vampire theme is a very important part of the deck, which means I'm not running things like Sheoldred, Whispering One or Baleful Force. Crypt Ghast is too good to remove, and Nirkana Revenant is a bit pricey to change in just for the flavor.

There's two obvious combos in the deck, both involving Sanguine Bond:

Exquisite Blood + Sanguine Bond = I winBlood Tribute + Sanguine Bond = You lose

but getting to either of them isn't really the main attraction.

I have recently switched my general from Drana, Kalastria Bloodchief to Drana, Liberator of Malakir. I haven't had games with her, but having an aggressive 3-drop as your general should be pretty nice in a deck where all other action happens at 4 and 5 mana. I used to run Anowon, the Ruin Sage as my general, but he drew in a bit too much attention for being a 5-drop that doesn't do anything when it hits the ground.

Now, I mentioned early, this is a flavorful deck, and many of my card choices were due to personal preferences. The best example would perhaps be Murder, which I run over Hero's Downfall simply because I love the art on Murder. I've heard people say spot removal isn't that good in Commander, but so far having access to a handful of straight-up creature destruction has proven to be pretty useful. Go for the Throat is rarely a dead card. Damnation is on my list for improvements, yet mostly for the art.

So, suggestions for cards? I was really exited about Shadows over Innistrad, and while Olivia, Geared for War is obviously an excellent commander for a RB madness/vampire tribal, I really don't want to give up monoblack. I used to have Ascendant Evincar in the deck, but since it seems half of the people in my playgroup are playing black in some form, it turned out helping others more than me. The new Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet is very enticing, but I'll propably try to wait until the price drops a bit.
