Sphinx's Tutelage and
Forgotten Creation
are best friends, but when Languish moves in down the hall can drama be far behind?
The deck's plan is to mill out the opponent with the Forgotten Creation
+
Sphinx's Tutelage
combo, using sweepers and spot removal to not die in the mean time. Oath of Jace is obviously great for the card draw, and it also insulates Sphinx's Tutelage from
Dromoka's Command
, a function which is also served by Fevered Visions.
Izzet seems like the natural color combination for the deck, but I want to experiment with adding Black both for the sweepers (a third converge color for Radiant Flames and Languish) and for the potent card draw (Painful Truths and Read the Bones).
I'm a little worried about the mana base, specifically being able to play Languish on time, as well as Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet and
Dark Petition
from the side board.
I'm pretty sure Jace, Vryn's Prodigy
would be great in this deck, but I'm really sure I don't want to spend $400 on a play set for a silly deck. I suspect Ob Nixilis Reignited would be great, but as I mentioned I'm nervous about the mana base.
Thing in the Ice
was originally in the deck in place of Fevered Visions, but I wanted to go all in on weird, dumb, cheap cards so here we are.
If I went Izzet, I'd want to add Chandra, Flamecaller, Pyromancer's Goggles,
Magmatic Insight
and Fall of the Titans as well as some more lands in place of the black cards and Radiant Flames.
