This is my first MTG deck, suggestions appreciated

In most cases mono-black devotion just wants to curve out well, Bloodghast=>Geralf's Messenger=>Phyrexian Obliterator=>Gray Merchant of Asphodel, to win the game. This deck is an attempt to give mono-black devotion the potential to play as an aggro, midrange, or even super control deck.

Adding {R} gives the deck the potential to play faster with Bloodghast + Faithless Looting combo, allowing for the occasional T3 Phyrexian Obliterator or Gray Merchant of Asphodel with Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx; as well as the access to Lightning Bolt for its extra damage

Adding {R} also on the other end give the deck more control in terms of mid to late game dig via Faithless Looting flashbacks for answer cards or sideboards, as well as Lightning Bolt, which give more potential removal.

Why?

Faithless Looting:

• Bloodghast discard for great ramp

• safe discard outlet to Liliana of the Veil

• digging for answers or sideboards

Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth:

• makes fetches tapable to keep readily available Bloodghast revivals

• gives Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx {B} in a few needed cases

• gives 1x Mountain {B}, nice against aggro decks, less damage from shocks

Leechridden Swamp:

• fetchable land on a slow turn with extra utility

Considerations

Spawning Pool, Lavaclaw Reaches:

• because manlands

Quest for the Gravelord, Soul Stair Expedition, Sinister Concoction:

• permanent devotion addition with extra utility

Mirrorpool:

• utility, more Phyrexian Obliterators anyone?

• fun in concept at least

Bad Moon:

• because now you can't Dismember my Phyrexian Obliterator

• Bloodghast = Lightning Bolt on a stick

• Geralf's Messenger's second coming doesn't die to bolt (or doom blade :p)

{G} color splash:

• access to Abrupt Decay, Maelstrom Pulse to help weakness vs enchants

{W} color splash:

• Brave the Sands + Phyrexian Obliterator = cruelty
