I've worked on this a little more, and feel it's gotten a lot more consistent. I've moved back to Mono-Blue, and have turned this from a T9 average mill into a T7 average mill! Fastest I saw was T6, but if opponent is mono color, I could see this even possibly T5. Most of this happens with Forgotten Creation and Sphinx's Tutelage. Get a couple of one or the other out, and it's just wrong! The one T6 mill I saw got Tutelage T3, Creation T4 and another Tutelage T5. Dropping hand on T5 was 10 mill. T6 was then dropping 5 cards, so I drew 6 total cards for 24 minimum mill! Now if opponent is mono color, you have a chance of winning T6, and possibly very rarely T5 from mill! I just made changes to add in some control again and took out Brain in a Jar and
Reckless Scholar
. In playtests, the brain was cool, but is just a little slow, and the same with the scholar. I think I'm better off removing those and going with some control to give myself more time to complete the mill.
Talent of the Telepath will mill 7 for 4... which isn't amazing, but if they have any instant or sorceries, you are now milling AND casting some spells for free!
Catalog
is useful to get what you need and great when you have the Tutelage out.
Grip of the Roil will slow down a creature and draw you a card... both important in this deck.
Dreadwaters
is a simple, straight up mill card and a no-brainer in here.
Forgotten Creation is just... WOW! 5-6 cards in hand means 10-12 mill minimum each turn right at the beginning.
Vessel of Paramnesia
can mill 5 if you have out a Tutelage for only 3 mana. That's a pretty sweet card for this deck.
Jace, Unraveler of Secrets is another no-brainer in here. Just mill every turn until you get the emblem.
