Maybeboard

The Game Plan: We take advantage of Inalla's Eminence in order to create many tokens and extract value via:

  • Cards which double trigger and flicker effects
  • Taking advantage of Wizard ETB effects and abilities from tribal cards
  • Creating a large, aggressive board presence via trigger abuse
  • Using 'tap wizard' outlets
  • Bloodline Necromancer : Low on wizards? For , get 6 of them. In cloning Bloodline Necromancer with Eminence, you can get two wizards, who you can clone, respectively. The more cloning abilities you have, the more bananas it gets.

  • Dire Fleet Ravager : What's not to love? A 4/4 for 5 with menace and deathtouch that hits everyone and drives up the competition. For one mere extra mana, you can get a temporary 4/4 menace deathtouch with haste and set everyone's life to about 4/9ths of what it was. That can sometimes be low enough for some kills! With even more copies and trigger copies, then everyone's life will be modeled by a recursive f(f(f(...f(x)))) where f(x) = floor((2/3)x), x is a person's current lifetotal and the amount of nested functions equals the number of triggers

  • Galecaster Colossus : A very powerful ability on a sizeable body. With Inalla's ability, you get to bounce another non-land permanent or get in for 5. The fact that you can tap the colossus itself every turn makes for quite the annoyance. And of course, the more wizards you have, the more crazy this gets. I find myself cloning small wizards and using their copy to activate this ability.

  • Master of Waves : Tokens! Cloning Master of Waves ensures that for 5 mana, you get 2n+3 elemental tokens, where n is your devotion to blue (increased by Master of Waves being on battlefield). Though the tokens do not have haste and only one Master of Waves will stay after your turn, they have strength in numbers.

  • Stunt Double : A tricky, versatile wizard in his own right. You can use this to copy an existing wizard and squeeze extra value with Inalla, or this can copy a menacing threat to bolster your board state. As an added bonus, the flash allows for you to copy any creature at any time.

  • Timestream Navigator : Who doesn't like taking extra turns? With Inalla's ability, you should have two in the bank, but flickering or duplication can get you even more. More turns, more trickery!

  • Venser, Shaper Savant : An amazing trickster who can bounce whatever wizards and annoyances you want, with reusability value. For , combos with Inalla to bounce whatever you want and retrieve Venser:

    1. Cast Venser for
    2. Order the triggers on the stack so that Inalla's eminence ability resolves before Venser's ETB.
    3. Pay to make a copy of Venser, and have its ETB trigger go on the stack before the original Venser's
    4. The first ETB trigger will resolve, bouncing the original Venser back to your hand.
    5. Now, you can also bounce something else when the second ETB trigger resolves.
    6. You are left with the Venser token as a 2/2 wizard with haste, which you can swing with. I also like to think of Venser as appearing, casting an illusory clone of himself as a distraction, before fleeing.
  • Leyline of Anticipation : Instead of holding mana for potential threats, only to not use any of it, Leyline allows us to be consistently mana-efficient, with some major upsides. Wizard shenanigans at instant speeds, board wipes at instant speed, and more!

  • Sundial of the Infinite : Keep your tokens! While eminence's "exile it at the beginning of the next end step" trigger is on the stack, use Sundial of the Infinite to wipe the stack clean and permanently keep your tokens. The triggered ability won't reoccur on those tokens, ever.

-1 Adeliz, the Cinder Wind : Not enough instants and sorceries to justify.

+1 Vedalken AEthermage : Tutoring for a wizard through an ability (nearly uncounterable) is powerful.

+1 Sedraxis Alchemist : With this deck, you will almost always have a blue permanent on hand. You can bounce an opponent's threats, or even your your own wizards. For 5 mana, you can use this card as a boomerang just as Venser, but without the flash.
