Elenda, the Dusk Rose

Commander / EDH WB (Orzhov)

Creature (1)

Reserve 36 slots for lands, 1 slot for Elenda. 63 slots for cards.

5 two CMC mana rocks + 2 three CMC mana rocks + 36 lands to give a healthy mana base. I did not include sol ring AND included Orzhov locket/cluestone on the basis of the value that Ashnod's Altar brings. Sol ring is 1/99 cards in the deck... so is Ashnod's Altar. While theoretically Ashnod's is limited to creatures, the potential value in the long run outweighs Sol Ring, and do not think it is necessary to include it for sake of another card.

Strategies

The goal of the deck is twofold, and by doing such bring as much value from both. The gist of it is we want to make Elenda powerful for two reasons: She can threaten as a powerful voltron commander, or she can be used to create tons of tokens... basically this will be a voltron/aristocrat hybrid.

The deck has a few powerhouses built in, the one in particular I favor is Bloodtracker . He comes out as a powerful 2/2 vampire with flying, and you can pay a black + 2 life to give him a +1/+1 counter. It only takes a few mana and some life dumped into him to make him enough of a threat to chipping off other players' life. The best part is he has value even when he leaves the battlefield: he draws cards equal to the number of +1/+1 counters on him. So no matter what happens to him when he leaves, whether he gets destroyed, exiled, bounced, you name it... you will be drawing cards equal to his +1/+1 counters.

Combos

Elenda, the Dusk Rose , Ashnod's Altar , and Animation Module + 1 Sacrificial Creature: Sacrifice your creature to Ashnod's Altar to create two colorless; Elenda's ability triggers, place a +1/+1 counter on Elenda; Animation Module's ability triggers, pay 1 of two colorless to create a 1/1 colorless Servo artifact creature token; use the token as your sacrificial creature and repeat. This combo alone nets infinite mana and infinite counters for Elenda.

List changes

02/06/21 - Changed Regal Bloodlord for Thalisse, Reverent Medium. I intended Regal Bloodlord to be a cheap (money-wise) way of getting tokens, and I pulled a Thalisse who was an immediate upgrade to Regal Bloodlord. She does the job... well, X times better than Regal Bloodlord.
